So, you make it to Colonia, but...

...What if you want to get back to the bubble, whilst leaving the ship you used to get to Colonia, at Colonia?

There's rather limited outfitting. Might the suicidewinder be the best option?

Or is there another way?

I have two Cobras, a III & a IV, that I want to get to Jaques, and I don't want to use transfer for the job, as I am poor.

Had exactly this issue...flew my orca out to colonia during 2.1

When 2.2 dropped I wanted to try passenger missions...except none of the stations out there sells passenger cabins (or ship launched fighter bays).

Decided against the suicide option so here I am flying back to the bubble...

So far, I've flown and left a Clipper and a Python at Jaques. The Suicidewinder ticket back to the bubble works perfectly well. Last time I checked, Jaques station didn't offer A-rated FSD-s, so buying and outfitting a new ship there to fly back to the bubble in isn't really a good option.

Now with 2.2, there's also the added option of transferring ships to and from there. For light ships, it needn't even be expensive: I'm flying an explorer Courier there now, and when I'll want to get back to the old bubble, transferring it back (after taking the Suicidewinder) should cost less than two million. But you said you don't want to transfer, so I guess your best option is to take one Cobra there, store it and do the Suicidewinder, then fly the other one there too. At least with neutron star boosting, the travel time should be halved, so you can get two ships there in the same time you would have needed for one in 2.1.

Alright then. Seems like Sidewinder death is the way to do it.

Thanks all.

There's something about this I am missing. If you've docked at Jacques, how does a suicidewinder get you back? Don't you just respawn at Jacques?

Edit: never mind, I need coffee. lol.

Maybe you pick the starterwinder instead of rebuying your suicidewinder

Exactly.

Arrive at Colonia.

Store big ship.

Buy Sidewinder.

Leave station.

Self-destruct.

Respawn in free Sidewinder in the bubble.

Profit.

I'm going to start up a dark sub-branch of the Sidewinder Appreciation Society called the Sidewinder Suicide Cult. It will be dedicated to all those cmdrs who have used the trusty little sidey as a means of death and long distance travel.

I saw myself having this problem awhile back and took a different option... I purchased a second account and signed up for The Outlander Challenge and flew my primary account back to the orignial bubble and have CMDR Ignis Petram on his way to the Colonia to start a new life in the growning Colonia bubble... I know this maybe a bit extreme for some but wanted to be part of Colonia and help it grow into something different than the current inhabited bubble but still be apart of the things going on back there...

and come on who doesn't want to fly a Sidey' all the way to Jacques... lol...[big grin]

As already said, yes.

I appreciate that it's a bit cheap...

More gamey than a 21 day old pheasant stuffed with smoked venison! ;)

I did it in Beta to get back from Jaques as none of the major 2.2 content was available out there... not brought myself to do it in main game yet

Yup, your OG starter system like Eravate, Yakabugai, LHS 3447 or wherever... Like waking up in the shower with Bobby Ewing! ;)

Ah yes Asellus Primus, Bakers Prospect, I remember it well, as the saying goes;

You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy. We must be cautious."

Do I need to even attribute that quote, I don't think so! I used the suicidewinder express in beta, I just couldn't do it in the game proper. When I first started playing I fired up the sidewinder, flew off, died when I ran out of fuel, died when I got to close to star, got lost in the trackless wastes, after finally getting back after one trip without dying Baker's Prospect felt like home.
