So your an SC backer originally...

Something that i saw cropping up in another thread and i thought id ask the question.

So your a Star Citizen backer originally did the release of the alpha or whatever motivation make you come join here at ED?

I know for myself the above was the case. I am a SC backer from early last year. Didn't even really notice this thing called Elite Dangerous, then alpha 1.0 came out and I jumped on it like a tramp on chips.

Ever since then i don't think i have logged into the SC website!

Just wondering if any of you out there were similar to me and what brought you over here to support?

I was one of the very first veteran backers of R.S.I. Star Citizen . Meaning I supported them in the first few days my only problem now is I would have bought the founder pack for Elite Dangerous if they had started Kickstarter first . I spend some time on the forums for R.S.I. and a bit of time running round my hanger that was upgraded with a very cool thank you . But you can only look at window dressing for so long , when I found out about Elite I stated putting all my game cash into Elite Dangerous . And have not bean back to Star Citizen and have even deleted and uninstall the show peace hanger pack that they have wasted so much time on . This is not to say I will not be playing the game when they finally sort it out , I am still a backer and have put a lot of $usd in to the game . It just means I will not be playing it as much as I would have done .

I heard about SC through Slashdot before the Kickstarter and then backed it in the early days before any sign of Elite Dangerous, so I was an SC backer originally.

Then one day I was browsing the BBC website and if I recall correctly one of the trending articles was to do with Elite on Kickstarter, 30 seconds later I had backed Elite :).

I would think that a good 80% of Elite backers also backed SC, i also think that many ED backers will use SC as a fall back game for when they need a break from Elite.

for me, SC will just be another space game in my collection, Elite will be the main game of choice.

I have pledged with cheapest spaceship you can get in Star Citizen just before I saw videos of the Elite Dangerous alpha on YouTube.
After that I went straight to the Elite shop and realized it was too expensive for me to back this game as well.
So now I regret my SC pledge...well regret may not be the appropriate term here because I believe Roberts is doing a great job. He's trying to get some level of variety by letting the community design their own starships. The next great starship is a good example for that.
I do regret not making enough money in my job for being able to get both games.
Looks like I need a second job. ;)

Same situation here. I dont regret the backing of SC at all, and im certain it'll be a great game in its own right and do what it does well the same as ED will do what it does well.

My only regret is not seeing the ED kickstarter first - having seen and played this game and the way the dev's have really taken on things that the player base has spoken of. I'd have much rather given my cash way back to FD before RSI.

SC will soon have 15 times the budget of ED, I don't see how low budget titles like ED, Limit Theory or No Man's Sky can be even compared.
This is nothing but a niche vs. blockbuster discussion.

SC vs. EvE is the real topic.

You do realise that ED has non crowdsourced funding too?

Of course you do, people have spent months telling you, but for some reason your brain cannot compute this fact.

This thread isnt for really debating the SC/ED/EvE/Space game pros and cons.

I was just curious how many were original backers of SC and came over here and why really.

welcome back FromHell btw been away a while?

All threads that allow a shooting window, is an opportunity for Fromhell. But welcome back to Fromhell, of course.

Well i backed SC first because it's crowdfunding came first so i guess i'm an Original" SC backer - but then again i backed ED as soon as possible and i have backed ED with more money than SC so..yeah.

Similar amounts backed by myself. £200 for ED and little less for SC i think.

I think for myself also the release of the ED alpha coincided with the push back of the SC DFM module and that really helped in my decision to come over here and support after putting money into SC first.

Greetings,

I backed SC, but started to shy away with the constant release of new ships, which I would have to pay for (if I wanted them of course). Being at least 4 months behind schedule (they will be once the DFM is released in late April). My concern is how far behind will they eventually be!

Don't get me wrong, I will keep an eye on SC, but my main focus has become ED, sadly for me I missed the KS for ED, but hey im in the Alpha now :)

I will look and play both and decide which ones offers the best match for what i want out of the game, at which time i will then go play that game :)

Which I hope is ED :)

No. I didn't support either. I'll buy when complete, the games that can deliver in the lines of what I want. I also don't want pre-access - fearing I'll become bored before release.

My god I played EVE online for about 2 years OK it looks very cool game play is not as good . Flying your ships well lets be honest you don't fly them they are point and click , feels more turn based that a real space sim game though its funny I keep paying real cash to keep my chars online . And do log in and play every now and then as who well that just easy I am Han Solo .
Now to be honest I spend as much of my game time as possible playing Elite Dangerous , or on the game server I still run for my friends and no need to guess my Admin char is Han Solo and always has bean for over 10 years .
So the real games to play will be SC vs ED - EVE is in a very slow third place .

Backed both games during their kickstarter, but was mainly a fan of SC. I actually didn't think Braben could do it.

Now I'm more and more drawn to E:D with it's vast open universe to explore. I also love the maturity of the forums over here. I must admit Braben is very much on his way to prove me wrong and I'm loving the game so far.
