The way commodities are, they fall into a broad category, you don't ship 1 ton of televisions, but 1 ton of consumer goods instead. The same way, "Flavor Enhancers" could be introduced as a commodity. Alternatively, you could split it up into "mineral spices" and "Natural spices".

your suggestion makes sense, although Salt would likely be the cheapest thing on the market, it would fit in. it does have other purposes other than being used on food (can be used in chemistry quite a lot, more commonly as a bi-product. but occasionally has it's uses, medicine It may also see some use also).
