Sol from 1285 light years away. Looking back in time to 2015 from the year 3300

Too bad there is no telescope on the ships so we can view other stars at our current location, especially looking at Earth in the past. ;P

I don't think there's telescope good enough to watch the Earth from 1285 lightyears. Even in 3300.

Correct me if I am wrong, but to see object this small, you will need the telescope with a mirror roughly twice the diameter of the solar system. And it will be blurry, anyway, because of high relative angular speed.

They may have the technology... right now our ships have devices which can do a detailed surface scan of a small planet *through* a star. So.. sure, why not?

On the other hand, I'd be more worried about could known as the "Jeff 'Joker' Moreau Conundrum" - that as one travels across the galaxy, one discovers that we used to listen to, and I quote, "crap radio stations."

Never thought of that. Nice idea. :)
Also, your image is not working. Upload it right here onto the forums.

Oh sorry.. I'm used to reddit where you have to link everything :) Though, being that i'm new here i'm not sure if i have the rights to upload anything yet.. (I don't. i'll have to do some more posting)
