As I understand Sol needs a permit to be visited. As I plan to visit Sol in the near future after release of the PS4 version. I want to know what one needs to get such permit. Who knows the answer?
I think it's great fun to make a run through our own solar system.
Its future earth so your house may not be there anymore. I will not spoil it for you but Trump was wrong and Al Gore was correct.

What if I'm an Imperial?
You'll only need four ranks in the Federal Navy to unlock the Sol Permit but you get the Hull tanking Federal Dropship to purchase just before that!

Correct me if i am wrong but is the permit permanent or does it dissapear if you lose your rank?
I'm afraid by then my whole country, the Netherlands, will be gone under water. I'll need a Krait to visit it. (the krait=a submersible spaceship in the original Elite)Although I've played Federation exclusively in all my saves, I never bothered going to Sol. Maybe, if we get atmospheric planetary landings I might, but I doubt we'll see an accurate rendering of Earth (wouldn't it be fun to land your ship outside your house).

Maybe ED wnd Google Earth vould work something out.
it's not so much an accurate map that is needed, the problem is rendering cities and landmarks it could cause a drop in frame rate on lower end systems. but i suppose they should have small NPC shuttles going back and forth from earth to the space stations and the moon, now that would be amazing and would show just how busy earth space is
ive got the permit, but it still says permit required, do you have to get it rubber stamped somewhere
