Sol System Permit issued

So I have been grinding this last week and now worked my way upto Petty Officer and got the message you have been issued with the sol system permit, but when I go to the galaxy map and try and plot a route it says Plot route unavailable requires a system permit ?? do I have to go and collect my permit from the permit office somewhere ??
I am currently in Altair, so only 1 jump away

It sometimes takes a little while to register. If you fully close down the game and give your Xbox a quick reboot it should give it a nudge.

Well I decided to play Carmageddon Max Damage for a while and then when I went back to Elite Dangerous it let me visit Sol .

Hi there bud.

You don't actually ever "align" yourself with any faction in game outside of how you act. You can gain ranks by running missions in both Federation and Empire, and gain the rewards for both.

You can also rank in Alliance if you so desire and do all three at once, but there's no real benefit to the Alliance support outside of roleplay.

You say you can rank with Alliance... I know you can gain reputation with them, but never seen any evidence of ranking. Or am I maybe missing something?

They have something different going on. An Alliance supporter is better equipped to answer this, but instead of the conventional ranks you find in Fed/Empire, you unlock various systems.

Hey,
thank you for the info.
Currently i have a negative reputation and rank for the federation, but i will try to do missions to level up.
I just want to visit the earth, moon, mars etc.
