I have just one request :D Please add Earths Moon as a landable planet so we can go out on foot and see Terra from moon, the iconic view ❤❤
Sure that isn't that hard :D

It'd be an interesting project imo, I for one would be interested in seeing Frontier potentially handcraft select (lore relevant?) planets or moons with cities and stuff, obviously with procedural help for unpopulated areas. I think the community would likely approve of that idea too, doubt it will ever happen, but its an interesting thought. FDev is oddly good at setpieces in Elite despite the fact so much of it is procedural.

they can't even get settlements to run smoothly... you want them to spend a bunch of time crafting an area ultimately no one would be able to load?

Considering the surface of the moon in elite and our moon lore wise wouldn't be recognizable in the first place that's a bit of a moot point

Considering that we'll never ...ever have cityscapes and such... blocking it off because they're not depicted with them seems to be a pointless gesture. We can see from above the surface that it's not covered in bubbles and cities. Just retcon the lore like normal and move on.

I dont think they even put any fake city lights on it to show on the night surfaces.

Never going to happen with this version of Elite and Cobra engine unfortunately.
Braben has been moved aside and no longer runs the company, it's just an Arx cash cow now run for the board/stakeholders.

A more achievable ambition would be to find a grey/white moon of about the right gravity orbiting a (preferably populated) earthlike at about the right distance, all around the right kind of star. I'm fairly confident something that ticks at least some of those boxes has already been discovered.

According to game "lore", us dirty, dirty spacers with our unknown, alien germs are not allowed on ANY human colonized planet, except for the tightly controlled areas inside settlements.
