How do I gain access to SOL? I know I need to be friendly with the federation. I've made it to Cadet rank. still neutral all the way around but gaining trust. Just wondering where I have to be in standings to gain access to SOL.

A small couple of those RepGain Only missions should do it.

As Said awarded with midshipman, got Mine and went to looky see, the main Earth stations did not have many trade goods so to speak, so trading tends to be one way, did mission and got pass for Beta Hydri, lots of Bounty there and good trade (forgot to add Beta Hydri watch out for Griefers.)

lol ok yet another question... guys im sorry about a billion questions but im learning more from this forum than anything else. it says route to sol is unavailable and im at cheli terminal in djabushis

Maybe you need to be able to make bigger FSD jumps, if so you can buy a better FSD upgrade or buy Class D upgrades for the rest of your ship. Class D are lighter upgrades so it enables you to make bigger jumps.
You could also try just picking a system half way from your position to Sol and go to that system. Then retry Sol again from there.

I just upgraded my frame shift drive to a class c from an e and all my weapons are 2 class f weapons.... it says my jump distance is 5.14 ly
