Solar Flare

I think I've just seen my first solar flare.

I was refueling and saw quite a large eruption form the sun which was pretty cool.

Looks cool doesn't it? :)

Now imagine that on the surface of a star much bigger than the Sun.
When you've seen a flare on a supergiant, you realise that both you and the Sun are comparatively small. ;)

Well for a minute I wondered how big it was going to get and whether I needed to go around because I had missed a patch note somewhere.

Fly through it. It it helps with the immersion, get someone to use a powerful hair-dryer on your face whilst you do, make your chair shake and, randomly turn off some of your ship modules to simulate the intense particle flux flowing around/through your ship.

Shame we have only heat damage, but i guess shields take care of all particle nasties and handles radiation well. Well in that case i wouldn't hyperjump even once without shields :D

It does get quite bumpy when you go deep and you get the sounds of the solar wind buffeting you. Just no change when flying through a flare.
