Sold my Vulture and bought back the Asp...

Just thought I would say, nothing wrong with the Vulture is you just want to Hunt but I enjoyed doing this and that while bumming across the Galaxy. So back into a ship that can hold it's own in a fight, jump 20+ly and travel well over 100 without refuelling and also carry 64 tons of cargo. I may well buy a Vulture again if I have 20 million spare in the bank but for now I am gonna keep on Asping.

I did the same and for the same reason. I really liked the Vulture and I know one day after I get a Python, I will buy it again. A great ship the Vulture is for what its designed for.

I sold my Python, kept my discovery Asp, and bought a Vulture. The earning potential of that little ship allowed me to buy back the Python again after a couple of RES sessions, with better fittings than I had previously.

Resource Extraction Site.

As for the Vulture/Python... It must be a pretty poorly fitted Python if you are earning more in a Vulture. I at least double my income at a RES with my Python. Brute force kills faster than fast flying.

But the Vulture is more fun..

Yeah, I was about to post almost an identical response.

My moderately-well-fitted python (90m, give or take) totally eclipses my Vulture in earning potential in a RES. Which is as it should be, considering it costs nearly 7x as much.

Admittedly though, the Vulture is a HELL of a lot more fun to fight in, and on any risk vs. reward/return on investment evaluation comes FAR ahead of the Python. I just enjoy the ability to do things other than fight when I get bored...

To I'm at the point, really, where I'm pondering selling off my Vulture and putting that 14 million to better use on my Python.

I am enjoying owning both very much and after a bit of a trek last night I have them both in my home system so close at hand. The Asp does everything the Vulture can't and is ok for light battle. Nothing I really want to replace the combo with right now...

I regularly sell and rebuy ships - I know the hit is pretty spectacular once you hit Asp and above but I can't really afford to run two at present.

Also I wanted - now I'm in the CG rewards to buy my asp back with discount and see if it affects insurance ;) so I've dropped back into vera 2 after days exploring and headed off to RES again for a bit.

The whole beauty of Elite is it ISNT a "one model fits all" experience.

Once you have an Asp, you always have an Asp. I'm on my third.

I have a Vulture as well but it's the short range travel that gets you in the Vutlure. You hear about a combat Community Goal 120 LY away, and think "nah, forget it". Asp would be there in a jiffy.

:we loves her farty rasp:

Very interesting discussion. I was in a high intensity area last night with my vulture, 2 class 3 pulse lasers, and melted everything in sight. Eagles, Asps, Pythons, the only thing that even came close was an Anaconda with a bazillion beam lasers that I just could not get in his sweet spot. He actually got me down to one ring of shields before he went boom. For combat the vulture is a formidible weapon. The asp is good at multiple roles just like the anaconda, both jump far, can carry cargo, can explore, can fight, but if you want something that excels at only one thing I gotta say the vulture is pretty great at combat.

Didn't sell it, but my Vulture is parked. Felt as much of a grind as trading.
Currently in my Asp doing fun and varied things, probably with enough scan data for a Python (or very nearly).

I have just the Asp, experimented with a Vulture in Lugh - great ship, but I did not have the money to really make it sing, so felt outclassed and quckly settled back to a Type-6 for the Lugh campaign.

I see the Vulture (combat orientated), Asp (Multi role) and Type-7 (Hauling) as the next set of ships up from the Viper, Cobra and Type-6. My character, went around in a Viper, upgraded to a Cobra geared for trade and then purchased a Type -6, rebuying as needed/could be afforded the other 2 ships. This seemed the best earning potential based on 1.0/1.1 with the caveat I get bored trading quickly (unless someone is shooting at me.......:) ).

I think 1.2 allows the Cobra geared up for Combat to pretty much match the Type-6 for income. I think the same is true for Vulture/Asp, I am not sure if the Type-7 could out earn the Vulture, I think where you are in the universe may have a bearing.

Yep, have both. Use the Vulture for combat. Love its maneuverability.
Take out the Asp for exploration which I'm doing right now. A6 fuel scoop is the bomb.

Have my exploration Asp that I am away in just now. Have a T7 for trading and buying back my Vulture for bounty hunting.

Had thought about going for an Anaconda when I get back but wonder at times if it is better to have 3 ships rather than one.

Did cross my mind to setup an exploration Asp and a second bounty hunting / combat Asp.
