SOLO game AI changing?

An idea what is going on? I have played this game over 700 hours and have stayed in solo and just flew and avoided combat doing trade missions to learn this game. While it seems like it tries to force you into combat I have just out ran them. Then a week or so I started getting interdicted 3 to 4 times in just a 100ls trip to a port. Then a day or two ago I started getting scanned by every port that is not an outpost both incoming and outgoing. Then tonight I was attacked the second I dropped out of sc, no scan, by a security ship. I out ran him and docked. Then the next system the same thing only this time he shot me to pieces while I was over the landing pad landing. I could understand if they were scanning me,I have no bounty and I have never returned fire at security ships. Since hauling salves and contraband is the only way to make anything more than 10K to 20K credits if this is from some update, I have better things to do with my time. It was bad enough when every interdiction I had before was an expert, compentent, or dangerous npc with dropships and clippers. That is one of the reason for staying out of combat until getting a bigger gun.

Maybe the systems you usually trade in have changed? Are factions at war with each other? Are powerplay factions contesting this system? Those could explain an increase in security.

700 hours........ I think that's enough learning and grinding. Time to buy your bigger gun! Get a Python and become a combat-trader or something

Your doing wrong for sure. If you have the credits for a decent viper and 3-4 insurances of course, you have one hell of the ship to start learning to fight. Start with npc's to learn the ship, get some assassination missions, then go after real commanders.

If you are not pledge power aligned, are at worst Neutral with the factions attacking you, or even more bizarre you are Friendly or Allied and the security ships are firing at you, take a look at this thread I started - https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=163874

You may have the same bug I do. Friendly / Allied / Neutral faction security ships fire on me, interdict and then fire. I've reported it as a bug, got one QA reply, one filed bug ticket reply and was told in the email that I've smuggled quite a bit of credits and therefore might be hostile to these factions.

Clearly they read nothing in my bug report because I stressed repeatedly am neutral at worst, almost always allied or friendly to the security ships attacking. If this sounds like your situation, all I can say is file a bug, but don't expect much to be done given I've already been filing this as a bug with FD multiple times and no result other than robe-response of smuggling credits earned = hostile faction - despite no faction on my panel reading as hostile. Not one.

This is Elite. It's combat orientated, always has been. 700 hours? Jeez.

Anyway, you were smuggling and got caught. As you say a bigger guns and practice! And dont get caught ;)

Support are terrible on bugs tbh. I had a bunch of copy paste replies which made it obvious nobody had actually read my tickets... then I got angry and sent cross emails and got a human response *sigh*

Anyway... slightly off topic, but OP.. if you wait til you are rich and try to learn combat in a Conda or something it will end in tears. Get a cheap combat ship and thrash it about. It's more fun anyway.

Been waiting for this thread for a few weeks now, SJA said she was upgrading the NPC AI so they wouldn't be easy anymore, its a dangerous galaxy out there, Solo has been too easy for too long leaving traders with hardly any risk, no longer it seems. The ironic thing is since launch I can count on one hand how many times I've been interdicted by PCs, I get interdicted by NPCs all the time.

If you read the full OP, the poster has actually two topics of issue - one is the increase in interdiction which I have no issue with, like you - I think that's a cool, good thing. More npc action is fine.

But the other topic is that a security ship - which the OP says he has never fired upon, has NO bounty - attacked him without cause.

I can confirm that this happens to me and other bugged accounts that responded on the bug forum thread on this very issue - neutral, friendly, or even bizarrely allied security ships of your faction attacking you for no reason - not aligned to PP, no bounty, not firing on or near security.

So the former - more npc interdictions by outlaws, pirates, etc - great thing to see, and the deadlier they get adds better and more immersion. So cool.

But the latter, the crazy neutral / friendly / allied security ships attacking you - that's clearly a bug.

No problem getting caught but how do they know what I have if they are not scanning?

I do not have a problem with the interdictions, just they happen one after another really don't have a problem with getting shot at but would like to know why cops shot people without knowing what they are carrying and shooting will on top of port landing.

Not if you spend a lot of time just exploring around everywhere you can get to just to see the game.

Not the point, I am not interested in combat at this point, I want to trade, I have a ship that I could put guns on and combat but that is not what I want to do right now. I know it is combat oriented and do not mind getting interdicted when I am in populated areas but being attack without cause and within 5m of a port is the problem.

If he's been smuggling a lot it's entirely possible that he's Unfriendly/Hostile to the MINOR faction to which the security forces belong whilst being Allied/Friendly to the major faction that Minor Faction is beholden to.

I've been informed a couple of tims that your status with the major faction a minor faction is associated with supercedes the direct minor faction rep and so while they show up as green because you're green to their bosses, they themselves hate your guts for bringing contraband into their station repeatedly. That could be the reason maybe?

I have over 1000hrs...
700 isn't that outrageous considering how long it takes to do anything.

in my case, i have positively identified by targetting the security ship firing at me and looking at 4th line indicating faction alignment that the security ship is definitely of the minor (or major) faction that i am friendly or allied with - and - in the entire inhabited universe, my account does not have one minor or major hostile faction.

this is a bug where for whatever bizarre reason, some securty ships suddenly decide you are a hostile PP aligned ship - despite not being aligned to any PP. having no bounty, friendly or allied to the security ship faction, and hard points closed.

the really frustrating thing is once this firing upon happens, the security ship in most cases then goes into chase mode - it will follow from SC space to whatever outpost or station you go in that same system, and fire upon you again. Run from the station - and ship chases again. Over and over loop until you successfully hyper out of system or successfully land at station under hostile fire and enter the hangar to avoid fire.

but wait...the bloodhound still lurks outside...soon as you exit the hangar, the bugged security ship starts firing and chasing you again.
