Solo vs Open

Just took the day to build up 10,000 credits and lost it all with three take-off crashes in the space of an hour. The sidewinder is a deathtrap. One accidental, slightly drunken hit of reverse instead of forward or vice versa during take-off or landing and you're a goner.

getting of plenty of CTDs with all, which may be people alt+tabbing or matchmaking going bit awry.

Solo no such problems.

Lost a heard-earned 10,000 CR from about three crashes in the space of an hour (of the ham-fisted flying kind, rather than the 'to desktop' variety.) The sidewinder is a deathtrap if you're liable to attempt to play the game after a few glasses of wine, one hit of reverse or throttle when you meant the other while taking off or landing and you're a goner.

And as I found out the third time, do not attempt to dock one-handed, using a mousepad, while eating an ice-cream.

If I wanted to give up weight I would've joined a gym. I probably can't even smoke at my desk while playing. Thanks Braben, you've RUINED Frontier.

I'm not interested in multiplayer. I've never played Elite that way before and probably won't start now, so it's solo for me.

At this stage I'm encountering "connection lost" issues a bit, so I can't wait for them to give us "offline solo"!

I'm confused at the difference...

Does SOLO still use the online GLOBAL market, so if I play solo and do a lot of trading at one port, will this affect the price of the commodity for everyone else? or just me?

Are they NPC traders in the game when solo to affect the prices?

How can you accidentally hit reverse? :S :D

Yeah, thats why you need to log into "Online" mode before you can play. ;)

You should probably buy a docking computer. Then you could eat and smoke to your hearts content, while listening to classical music no less! ;)

I am just playing solo at the moment whilst I get back into the swing of things. A mate of mine got the game yesterday and it waiting for his T-Flight to arrive and then we will jump into Open.

One thing I've noticed that makes solo a bit like open is that the AI pilots also include their fair share of people who do daft things in front of me.

A Lakon turned to block the exit of a station right in front of me when I was going out last night. As I was feeling cocky I didn't slow down and just tried to fly over it and out... I hit the wall.

Oh and it's very easy to slam into reverse when you've had a few shandies. Done it many times when trying to dock except I tended to speed up instead of descending and end up violating the law smashing into the control tower building.
