Solo vs. Thargoids: grind away the fun of the game in EVERY aspect!

Lately I am thinking about you guys from Frontier Dev. a lot. I ask myself again and again WHICH person in your team came to the conclusion that the fun of the game and the long term motivation is in the grind and ONLY the grind.

---> HOW in the world can you believe that your "you have to kill the hearts one after another or you will surely die" is fun to play?
---> WHO had the idea that restricting the fight on a maximum level even down to the type and number of AX-weapons you can use is FUN?

WHAT ARE YOU GUYS THINKING?

On what crazy psychological gaming theory is this "grind till you die" idea based for a game that is also playable for single players?

I have been waiting for ELITE IV for 30 years.
I had dreams of epic, huge Thargoids wars like we have in Oolite where you can use any weapon in unlimited numbers to kill the mass-thargoids attacks.
Hundreds of players join together to attack giant swarms of 1000s of thargoids at the same time.
Amazing battles, great fun.

And WHAT DID YOU GUYS DO?

You came up with the ideas of HEARTS!!!! HEARTS! You have to kill IN TIME, one by one, with a limited number of AX weapons.

THIS is your idea of a fun war game?

Yes, I was able to master the thargoid killing after 7 days in solo mod. I hated it. I hate the way we are forced to battle thargoids.
It is awful. It is painful. It is highly regulated, boring, annoying.

I can just imagine the Frontier Development team meeting about how to set up the Thargoids fights: "Let's make it REALLY hard, guys! Force them to play together in open mode. Make it a steep learning curve, let them grind to kill their first thargoid so they will play longer - lets get them hearts they have to kill one after another after a certain rule..."

This is what you came up with?

THIS???

I am sad. I am disappointed. I could give you thousand of ideas how the thragoid wars could be amazing, fun, thrilling, exiting so that 10 thousands of new players would join elite Dangerous. But no: you had to make the last part of the game like the rest: a useless grind until the last part of fun is gone.

My stats:

triple Elite, 500,000 LY travel, round the galaxy trip, 13000 found systems, 8 Billion credits, 2 years of game time, all ships, all upgrades.

And I still don't like this game at all.
Don't say I didn't try.

I really like it, it is one of the most engaging activity for me in the game. Thanks to the weapons limitations and the heart mechanics I always have to think how to outfit the ship and which ship to use for the best results.

If you play well your cards the climax in the fights is awesome, something I have never experienced in a space simulation.

Of course it is a matter of tastes I guess, but I think you are too harsh and should give it a better try.

I really like what you have to do to kill a Thargoid, it's very difficult to just pulling the trigger on regular NPC's.

I don't like the 4 weapon limit.

I want to be able to realistically take on Thargoids by myself, as I very very very rarely meet other players during my game time, let alone meet players ready and setup for AX.

Ok, yes. Thank you for your feedback. So for some players this difficult approach - let me rather say: strictly regulated approach - is rewarding.
Good. I understand.

Then maybe Frontier could give us an alternative Thargoid target which can be fought by conventional measures yet not less hard.
I am thinking about giant swarms of Thargoid ships, or giant - GIANT - Thargoid motherships.

As Ian Doncaster says; Thargoid Scouts.

I've been taking on waves of Scouts in my DBS (coz Scout vs Scout, right? :D) - when I started doing this I had no specialist weapons, just regular unengineered multicannons, and it was a tough challenge. Now I have upgraded to AX multicannon turrets and small Guardian Gauss Cannons - ridiculously good fun!

Found one. Thank you. Yes, this is Ok. Not exactly what I mean but nice. Still the "big game" Thargoidhunting for Cyclops etc. is way too regulated mechanics-wise for my taste. It would be enough to get rid of the hearts-mechanics.
