As you may know if you ever tried to play with built in 3d mode on passive (FPR) 3D monitor / TV , the only option you can go is SBS (Side by Side).
This mode cuts half of the horizontal resolution and together with FPR technology itself it makes text hardly readable.
The only solution until the game will (ever?) support interlaced output is to run game throuh Tridef Ignition. It has interlaced (which native for passive 3D) output and so-named "soft interlaced" mode that greatly improves picture quality on FPR displays.
With the realese of Tridef 6.4 they have even added Elite Dangerous profile to run the game, but it sucked honesly.
I've modified the profile and now you can enjoy the game in 3D without any wierd glitches.
Pros of the profile:
no depth glitches (such as poping out lens flares, solar coronas or nebulas)
zero ghosting (crosstalk) on planet edges, asteroids or crosshairs
very nice depth of the cockpit, radar is way more readable then in 2D
all the text in game is readable
game is playable
and it's kinda boting to play in 2D now.
Cons of the profile:
The space itself and faraway objects have about zero depth, so they are on "monitor plane". This is because you cannot adjust in Tridef the depth of nebulas, milkyway and main crosshair. However I can adjust whole scene on my LG TV (with TV settings) but cannot on my AOC monitor. But in general, it gives also ghosting-free image of faraway space.
It takes 2-3 minutes for ED to start up when you press @START@ in launcher (something with online nature of ED I suppose, offline training starts immediatly)
