Horrible pun not meant, but that is a very elitist attitude and I don't agree with the idea of making this into some sort of reward for game play.

I get you but disagree as for lore reasons I think we should venerate only pilots that have reached the rank of Elite.
With all the compromises to lore that we've had to deal with, surely a memorial to deceased players shouldn't be held to some kind of "yes, this game was his/her life/social outlet/therapy and he/she was an outstanding member of the community... but they didn't mindlessly grind enough to get an arbitrary rank so meh" slap-in-the-face standard?
