Solution to some balance issues.

Hi Frontier,

Can you just turn it all off? Bring the servers down. I think that would solve the vast majority of complaints by virtue of invalidating them through removal of access to the thing that’s either nerfed too much, or obviously not enough.

Maybe turn them on again next week for a bit? See if people are okay then? Probably won’t be but you never know.

I feel like this mostly solves the thorny issue of people logging on and actually playing and this being a problem that requires some sort of solution, I am led to believe.

For your esteemed consideration.

Forever yours,
Kofeyh.

;)

When I saw theSisko comment the other day that "the new planet shaders we're being taken down for a few weeks because they were interfering with the BGS" I almost hurt myself laughing...and the reason it was so funny is because it might well end up being true!

If anything they should just turn off the forums and all forms of communication with the player base, that way they can spend less time reading posts like "I've been a player since Zeta and nothing has changed!". - I mean if your wife/hubby makes crappy, lumpy mash, you don't keep eating it as it is, right?

There are big issues with today's gaming industry, forget the microtransactions and PTW problems, but add in that every game has become massively player driven.
Devs although hard at work, and I respect them for bringing such amazing games to us, seem to lack a fundamental outlier, and that's playing their own games legitimately. Or at least having a team of volunteers or something that spend fruitless hours playing the game and showing first-hand how it could be better balanced, from real experiences. The players, although offering sage input often and great ideas to make the game a better place, are often under a banner of entitlement.

This causes conflict in the "I don't see why you play like that, you should play like me!" mentalities.

I mean take that wierd seizure-inducing thing that happens when getting/doing interdictions or passing within a planet's gravitational pull, what is that about and why is it still a thing? I first noticed that in 2015...

As games go on, players want and expect more. Devs roll out BETAs but don't seem to have the sheer size of teams or time to cover all aspects, they've got wages to pay, hence microtransactions, they keep the game company funded and putting out updates. It's a never ending cycle of "you did this wrong!", "I spent 20-1000000m on this game and didn't get what I want!" and of course the ever growing nerf bat and not really understanding the issues or approaching them in better ways than a harsh "temporary" fix.

I think games developers of the 90's are kinda grateful they don't do it nowadays (despite the monetary value), it's hard work on all accounts as everyone is a critic and I do not envy Devs or those that deal specifically with the community.

I'm not really sure what I wanted to say, it's like the forums has become a Councillor that you just blurt stuff out that's lingering inside you like that one fart in a cramped and crowded area.
