I'm posting this in the hope that it will help others, and apologise that I can't post pictures, so you'll have to make do with text descriptions I'm afraid. This particular problem had me banging my head against the wall - until after a lot of testing I finally solved it!
I like custom building, but I kept coming across this ...
Imagine you start a building with one white panel wall (4m). I build the walls 'inside' the squares of the grid so I can add another wall (if I want) right next to it. So the building has only one piece - a white wall.
You now add a black roof tile, which snaps on top of the wall. I want the black flat roof tile down a little and using SHIFT I sink it down a little.... lets say half way down the wall.
If you're lucky you get a white wall, with a black roof tile but from the other side YOU DON'T SEE THE ROOF TILE. I was occasionally getting a black 'bar' across the white wall (could be useful if I can control it!)
However I didn't want the black bar.
How to solve it---- simply move the wall back into the same place, but first turn it round (move, 90degree Z turn, and again) and place it back in the exact same place. Voila!
It's as if the width of the walls are exactly one pixel short on one side. Turn it round and everything is ok!
