Some advice for long distance.

Took a trip down to PSR J0180 recently.

It's way down below the galactic plane. I had hoped to get down there to check my theory that the roids down there should be loaded with Palladium.

I never got there. I got within 230LY, and my PSU packed in. I went a bit further when I was up and running again, but gave up and turned around. Sorry for any disappointment guys.

Here's what I learned.

A: 16LY jump distance is simply not enough. Its a big pain in the butthole. If you are off south, RIG UP! 25+LY is necessary. The trip planner will bring you every way but down. (or up) What might take a few jumps up top in the galactic plane will be like spaghetti down here.

A1: ---A VERTICAL TRIP WILL INCREASE IN DISTANCE EXPONENTIALLY. What starts as a 1000LY trip turns into something like 2000LY.---
If you are young and have time feel free. I don't have the time.
A2: ALWAYS KEEP YOUR FUEL HALF FULL. There are NO stations outside the inhabited bubble. Fuel scoop only.
A3: BUY AN ADVANCED SCANNER. There is simply no other current way of making money down here. I went off with a Disco scanner and nothing more. 300+ systems... 180K. Not much. Disappointing.
A4: KEEP SYSTEM PIPS TO MAX. THEN ENGINE. Dont worry about weps, waste of time. There is nothing here.

B: SPEND YOUR TIME IN THE AI SYSTEMS. There is no point in exploring yet. Until the graphics get a lot better, until the is some kind of waystation thingy, and until there is something really concrete to be made from exploring, forget it. Its not implemented. ITS ALL EMPTY!!! Just some nice sights.

Signing off.

Have some rep for the effort and report. Hope to be doing some distance exploration myself in the near future.
