Some Data Dies with me, some doesn't and why can't I retrieve my own data back.

Ok so I accidentally Die. I was bounced while scanning Emissions and couldn't get away from a Deadly Anaconda with a Thermal Attack. It Happens.

I lost my Cargo - fair enough.
I do NOT lose my Courier Data Jobs - Ok Data Bank in my Escape Capsule?
I DO lose a Planetary Scan job I haven't attempted yet - WHY? If I had the Data but hadn't delivered it maybe OK but why lose the Job? And why can't I re-scan if I DID have the Data? or why can't I retrieve the Data from my own wreckage?

Worst part - I lost System Scan Data from about 20 Systems that took me about a week to collect. NOT fair to have no opportunity to retrieve it. If I can scan the Data from other wrecks then why can't I scan my own wreckage? I should have the passwords so don't have to hack in. I don't mind having a time limit to get it. I don't mind losing a random 10% due to "Damage" to the Data Banks but
if Mission Data is saved then why not Personal Data. Presumably the Retrieve Personal Items Missions would include Data on Memory Sticks or the equivalent (In a container NOT individual USBs).

So I want the opportunity to recover what I can from my own wreckage: Data; a few exotic bits from my customised ship (Fluffy Dice?); The odd bit of Cargo. Not everything but something. Maybe I have to pick off a Scavenger but can still get the Data. There are enough wrecks out there of system generated stuff so at least give me a chance with my own stuff.

not going to ask why you didn't think to play in solo/PG sessions? Especially since your ship is a sexual aphrodisiac greifer magnet, in all its absurdly oversized e.Peen glory?

Since that's water under the bridge, answer is simple. FDev logic.

It's gameplay. Every profession has a risk of loss though that's getting less and less balanced every day.

Damn sure not gonna get it back.

Missions you fail due to destruction usually have a line about this in the mission description.

If you need an explanation for why you can't find your previous wreck: NPCs (who might have found you and returned you to a station, so be thankful for that!) got there first and sold what they could find .

Think about how annoying it is to lose data from a trip to Sag A* by misjudging the surface gravity of a planet.
