Ok, Sold off 404 tons of mostly LTD's and then skipped over to a station that had a 3A Prospector controller. I didn't see the point until I started finding multiple DC rocks so close together that after I cracked one, I couldn't find the other one because of the dust cloud.
Switched out the Prospector controllers on both ships, loaded up with limpets and headed back to my no pirates miming systems.
Decided to try a rocky ring with Benitonite since I read that the rocks look different from the ice balls in the icy rings. Yep they do. Found a really bright glowing rock and brought up the FG with what was supposed to be a prospector controller and it was a hatch breaker controller.
Ok, No way around it, have to jump back about 200 LY and trade it out. Since I wanted to make the best time I decided to dump my limpets from the ship with the hatch breaker and have the other ship pick them up. Waste not want not. Got the wing in position and did the dump. Then went to plot the route. YEP. The dump shaved 2 jumps off the trip.
Then I start hearing POP, POP, Boom, Bang, POP,, as the limpets started to blow up. The wingman only managed to collect about 50 of the 100.
Lesson learned.
Check and double check before you buy something.
Limpets have a short life.
So. Loaded 65 limpets and going to head back to my wingman and carefully transfer about 40 limpets back so each ship has about 110 to start mining with.
