Some don't like the game

Some even used swear words and their thread was closed.

I'm IN and having a great time! I have two great motorcycles I should be riding this summer but am having so much fun with ED I don't get out to the garage much! Maybe I should reconsider my priorities in real life and at least ride one of them!

2014 and so many kids grew up with TV where everything was resolved in a 30 or 60 minute episode. They expect real life to be the same. People who have little education but excel at athletics or music and make millions with cable TV doing shows about them. Kids think they can do the same. Wrong. Heck now we have a "Dating Naked" show on cable. Give me a break!

Elite is all about patience and developing your skills. It is not a game where you will figure it out in 30 or 60 minutes. It is a challenge and if you are willing to go the distance your skills will improve and you will realize the satisfaction of conquering a difficult task and succeeding at it. That is a world most kids in this communication age don't have a clue about. That is why we see so many impatient and frustrated posts on the forum.

I applaud FD for keeping the game difficult. Maybe they are doing more to better the world than they realize. Of course if the Chinese get into Elite they will beat our butts! They are serious about education and dedication to obtaining a goal! Meanwhile the Russians will be modding it to advanced levels! I love the Russians as they have no restrictions and just go for it. I cannot wait to see it all happen.

Enjoy.

Well the Russians will try to shoot everyone, and if they could they would probably shoot them selfs. Anyhow I'm have a ton of fun here so bring it on :D

Nice! and well said. We should start a what has Elite taught you thread?

1. Economics... seriously as a kid I learned the basic concept of buy low sell high off this game.
2. Asset Planning: remember when you got enough money in Frontier to get that shiny new ship? buy it and suddenly you're broke and can't afford autopilot, atmospheric shielding, weapons in other words all the stuff you need to make it go... I'm a car guy and believe me that REALLY applies in my hobby I know I've been so close so many times to buy that great new toy but then I thought of insurance, fuel, money for mods, maintenance etc.. and said well maybe later.

Finally I want to say last but not least:

3. English! yes it was not my first language but I basically had to look stuff up and force myself to learn in order to play the game and read all those crazy descriptions of the planets and the items etc. etc.

Hard to come up with many other titles that have that level of applicability to your own personal life. Well done FD and DB you really made an impact on us!

agree, the game could use even some more difficulty in some areas, as eventually new players will reach certain level and without new challenges the game can become tedious.

p.s. you should ride at least one motorcycle this summer :)

It had to be said, well said

Very well put. This should be merged into every, whinging, whining, moaning thread.

But keep them coming there are funny.

i can understand the frustration of some users as the first time you hit something like the insurance bug it can be very painful, my advice is that if you are feeling angry about something wait until you've cooled down a bit before posting and dont give the thread a provocative title as it does nobody any favours.

but most of all understand that development has priorities that dont include releasing patch after patch after patch just to address what in reality are minor issues. considering our progress is going to be wiped fairly soon anyway its not worth getting worked up about.

Stepping back on the things, helps to avoid many of unfortunate situations and which are not desired

Most of them, well 99.9% from what I read, who dont like the game are simply because they are judging things and features based on whats right in front of their eyes.

They cant see passed what they have now.

90% of them probably never played the last Elite.

And I'm convinced almost all of them think this is actually the game more or less, even the ones that say they know its a beta seem to contradict themselves as soon as they get to the context of their thread complaint.

Ive never known so many people complaining about what they bought and demanding refunds without actually playing what they are complaining about or wanting a refund from. Its not even out yet.

In all my life on forums this is certainly the most confused and misinformed one :)

I would expect the moaning its not pick up and play enough to come from a console audience rather than a PC audience. What have they all been playing up to this point? Facebook games or just upgraded from the Wii?

Great post - ED is not for everyone and that's great.

If people find it overly complicated, it's definitely not their type of game.

I would call ED easy to learn and hard to master. It allows for spatial navigation offering so many options I know it's going to take me a long time until I would call myself somewhat competent and I love that.

Thanks to the devs not giving in to the crowd asking for an arcade 3rd person shoot em up running on a mobile phone.

If you think they moan a lot of these forums go to Eurogamer, Gamespot or IGN and see what hateful bile can come from the gaming community.

I hope that the game doesn't get ported to consoles otherwise you'll have that lot nitpicking every minor detail.

I guess you could say the game is a challenge but then again so is anything space related... J.F.K. said it best when he stated that the choice to go to the Moon was done in spite of its difficulty not because of how easy it was. Speaks volumes about the feeling of accomplishment when it actually happened. Well Elite is just like that challenging but damn rewarding nothing really comes close.

I agree (have some rep OP). I think this shows the value of Frontier making the game they want to play, instead of following the crowd and producing another version of existing games.

Elite has created an incredible legacy of sandbox games, and it is one of the few games out there that allows players to be themselves. Want to trade/fight/explore/mine/test the system? It's all there in one game.

Cheers, Phos.

I'm one of the 10%.

I'm hoping FD make enough money to keep ED going. The fan base for this game will probably fizzle down, especially when Star Citizen comes out (SC seems like an arcade version of ED to me). I guess the remaining players will be the more die hard players, or geeky (me). I find this game to be fully immersive, much like the DCS World titles, but much less complicated. The COD type multiplayers, will find it hard, not just having a trigger and move buttons (I should know as I used to play BattleField2). This game requires a little cunning, and with the volume of space you have time to be tactical, and think about what you're going to do rather than just reacting to someone running round the corner of a building. That's why I think people will leave.
