Some don't like the game

If you think they moan a lot of these forums go to Eurogamer, Gamespot or IGN and see what hateful bile can come from the gaming community.

I hope that the game doesn't get ported to consoles otherwise you'll have that lot nitpicking every minor detail.

Let them. It's very easy to ignore someone on the internet.

I'm one of the 10%.

I'm hoping FD make enough money to keep ED going. The fan base for this game will probably fizzle down, especially when Star Citizen comes out (SC seems like an arcade version of ED to me). I guess the remaining players will be the more die hard players, or geeky (me). I find this game to be fully immersive, much like the DCS World titles, but much less complicated. The COD type multiplayers, will find it hard, not just having a trigger and move buttons (I should know as I used to play BattleField2). This game requires a little cunning, and with the volume of space you have time to be tactical, and think about what you're going to do rather than just reacting to someone running round the corner of a building. That's why I think people will leave.

Maybe. Although, Elite will have 2 years of content updates, tweaks and fixes. I would Imagine by the time Star Citizen is close to release Elite will be in full swing with quite a large player base and a lot of people will have mastered the controls of the ships by then. After playing a game like Elite the arcade type of game just kind of loses it's appeal - at least for me. I mean they are fun to jump on and play every now and then but you can only do so much in those types of games. Whereas Elite will be like an alternate life with an entire universe to explore.

FD hasn't come even close to where we will end up. We are probably at less than 10 percent of where this game is going. For now It's all about Beta and getting 100,000+ players all on line at the same time with multiple servers. That was a big deal in beta 1.03. FD is doing it right working the network issues. It won't make a lot of sense if they add features but only a few can connect online to access them.

Like everything SC will be newer, the next big thing. So people will 'upgrade' maybe you could say.

I imagine lots of people who love elite will also want to play SC, me being one, I'll probably go back and forth, and I'm guessing in the end I will probably end up going back to full time Elite.

Elite has the advantage of being first, people who cant wait for SC may take up elite, elite probably would have been more popular now if there was no SC and people didnt divide between the two.

It could be like PES and FIFA used to be 10 year ago, when PES challenged FIFA despite FIFA having the bigger budget, you get a group that are loyal to FIFA and a Group that are loyal to PES.

Theres no doubt that SC will be the most successful, but that certainly doesnt mean it will be the better game.

I think Elite will have a huge boost once reviews and word of mouth start spreading.

I guess that some people do not like open ended games. Some prefer structure rather than creating their own stories. If I had a ton of fish for every mention of the term "end game" I would be known as Chango Dock.

Totally agree with you. I also like a bid of mindless killing on Left4Dead every now and then. Where I guess I am coming from is the fact many people are complaining about how hard ED is. Some Commanders, made this game look so easy, doing their silky docking and slick combat and piracy videos. I imagine most newbie players who complain, have been unintentionally lured into a false sense of superiority. These are the people that will leave the community. I'm sure there will be new players after release, just not many. I hope I'm wrong.

Myself... I have put the time in on ED, and I can handle most situations... nearly most of the time.

I chose ED over SC, but that's simply a personal choice I made. I play the games I like and don't play the ones I don't, what the particular games are is irrelevant. It's not exactly rocket surgery.;)

Elite is all about patience and developing your skills. It is not a game where you will figure it out in 30 or 60 minutes. It is a challenge and if you are willing to go the distance your skills will improve and you will realize the satisfaction of conquering a difficult task and succeeding at it. That is a world most kids in this communication age don't have a clue about. That is why we see so many impatient and frustrated posts on the forum. Enjoy.

100%, Hooplah. I blame Freddie Mercury: "I want it all and I want it NOW"

How can you explain the sheer pleasure of delayed gratification to a generation raised to just live for the instant? Waiting for E: D to be released is like looking forward to Christmas. (For me, at least)

*sigh*

Man, I'm old. There's a reason why I chose Victor Meldrew - I can feel myself turning into him...

Some even used swear words and their thread was closed.

I'm IN and having a great time! I have two great motorcycles I should be riding this summer but am having so much fun with FD I don't get out to the garage much! Maybe I should reconsider my priorities in real life and at least ride one of them!

2014 and so many kids grew up with TV where everything was resolved in a 30 or 60 minute episode. They expect real life to be the same. People who have little education but excel at athletics or music and make millions with cable TV doing shows about them. Kids think they can do the same. Wrong. Heck now we have a "Dating Naked" show on cable. Give me a break!

I applaud FD for keeping the game difficult. Maybe they are doing more to better the world than they realize. Of course if the Chinese get into Elite they will beat our butts! They are serious about education and dedication to obtaining a goal! Meanwhile the Russians will be modding it to advanced levels! I love the Russians as they have no restrictions and just go for it. I cannot wait to see it all happen.

Enjoy.

My motorcycle is collecting dust as well.

However, I stopped riding mine once it dawned on me that 50% of the country is insane or on medication, illegal aliens are given licenses, 16 year old schmucks are acting a fool, and some people deliberately try to run motorcycles off the road.

Too many strangers to trust with my life. I'd rather play Elite as well ;)

Impossible to make a game which will be enjoyed by everyone, I think if they start down this road it would be a big step towards disaster.

What are the most common aspects of negative feedback?

Supercruise?
Multiplayer?

Supercruise usually because some people simply want a point and go adventure game, select map, point select point of interest and then hit a key and kazoom you're there, to me this gets dull quick and also limits any potential for emergent gameplay.

In-system maps will also help with SC I think...

Multiplayer: Not touching that, still got quite a bit of work and functionality incoming.

I have slowed my playing down, just don't want to get burned out before the final release :).
