I started ED Odyssey at the weekend. I'm about 1200 clicks outside of the bubble doing exploration and exobiology. I have some questions.
- What happens if I die on the surface of a celestial body? Do I respawn at the last station I was docked at? I assume I have to claim the ship on insurance?
IIRC you reappear on your ship as you would if you died in the SRV, but your ship would be where you left it regardless of where you appeared. Top tip don’t die.
- In the System Map - does the arc line around a body mean, is that the indication it's land-able? I assume the blue halo around a body is atmosphere?
Fuzzy halo is atmosphere, blue line with bumps is landable with occupation smooth blue line is landable.
- Any tips on increasing the likelihood of finding bodies with no first footfall? I know there are no guarantees, but just wondering if there's some tip on where to kind of go to find one.

As with all exploring the top tip is to be heading to somewhere boring as most people head for interesting places so more things get found on those routes.
There is no easy way to tell about First Footfall other than landing, whether the planet is mapped or not proves nothing as mapping was possible long before going on foot and it is possible to land and find stuff on a planet without mapping it.
But if the planet is undiscovered then nobody has been near enough to it to land so First Footfall is available.
Keep in mind that the exobiology bonus is for First Discovery of that bio on that planet so while getting First Footfall guarantees you can get the bonus not getting First Footfall doesn’t mean that all or any of the bios have been discovered or handed in,
