Some ideas to improve the atmosphere on the command deck

Maybe some ideas about the repetitive screens, why not make some information appear like :
  • recall the balance of the fleet account,
  • display the weekly cost of the fleet maintenance with a state of the hull for example before repair at the end of the week (a simple gauge can be enough)
  • display the capacity of the available/occupied hold
  • display on some panels the map of the system in which we are with the distance to Sol,
  • why not display on a large screen the image of the galaxy with the fleet in color on this map, as soon as the fleet jumps on a line, it could be nice (with a zoom on the position of the fleet, then zoom out to show a larger area and a third zoom out that shows the galaxy as a whole with the position).
  • the level of tritium remaining usable to jump,
  • a screen with external views too, from several places like a video surveillance 🙂
  • here's the thing, a visual on the pads would not be illogical either

in short, it's information that you already manage
no interaction, just display would be cool 🥳

The only interaction compared to what already exists would be to make the commander's console on the command bridge active like the panel in his cabin, it's a shame to get up to set the fleet jump and come back and sit down...

Very good ideas. I would only add that the people working in the FC are walking around and can be talked to:
  • Repair/Fuel/Restock fuel n the hangar
  • Commanding officer on the deck
  • Tritium depot on the deck
  • Market on the deck or open area below the deck with all the chairs
Etc, etc. would make it feel more alive. Right now, only the bar has people, everywhere else is pretty empty.

I really like this idea. The fleet carrier interiors look great and I love them, but after spending some time walking through the concourse, the interiors feel empty - especially the main deck.

The idea of adding contextual panels sounds really amazing.
Within common areas it works be great to see:
  • the view of the current system,
  • some details of the body which carrier orbits around,
  • information about system factions and stations they have,
  • screen showing the part of the Galaxy where carrier is and the destination system if carrier is about to jump,
  • the idea of the external view screens is great too - it would add a lot to the atmosphere.

For the capitan restricted areas I would love to see the panels related to carrier management - capacity, finance, tritium.

I have read on other post the idea of honking the system. It sounds great. I think we should also have an option for FSS scanning the bodies. This functionality could be accessible on one of the consoles on the bridge that are unusable (or the capitan right panel, which is unusable too).

Another thing is that bridge is dead quiet. It would be great to hear more ambient sounds that would make a feel that it is a bridge. Maybe the crew which sits there should be more vivid.

I think it would be generally nice to see more people on the bridge too. Interestingly, during jump only I was "escorted" to my seat, while all the NPCs could still enjoy staying at the bar. Perhaps they should walk too to the main deck seats? After all there is 20 empty spaces there.

I'd like to hear more audio chatter related to things going on around the carrier. Not just the random noises that play in stations and provide background noise, but stuff like the command staff reacting to people requesting docking, undocking, someone outside the carrier becoming hostile (and getting shot at), and so on.

If I'm sat on the rear of the flight deck and can see the ships coming and going, getting clearance to land, touching down, departing again, getting shot at by the turrets when some wanted NPC gets in an altercation with the authority ships, and so on, I'd expect the deck officer and whoever it is that's sitting in the right hand seat to have something to say about it.

All good ideas.
I really like idea to have other way to refuel carrier than doing it myslef by boarding some ship and transferring fuel there and then donating. That's just silly.

But first - let us access Carrier Management while sitting in command chair - that should be obvious. To order hyperjump I must either stand up and access radial menu, or walk somewhere to find some terminal in the back room or somewhere. I hope they are already working on it, because this looks like oversight.

There are some panels on command deck that are only decoration, but could serve as Science Station and we could be allowed to use FSS there. After jumping to new system I feel it's weird that I must fly away in some small ship to scan the system.

carriers seem developmentally focused on being mobile markets. i don't see many suggestions to focus the displays on that information, despite that probably being the biggest concern for the captain and operationally, the crew.

instead it's a bunch of science and engineering looking readouts that don't really make sense being on the bridge or outside of engineering rooms. last i checked, the carrier doesn't do any scientific work, nor does it take damage or move around.

I'd also like to see carrier jump destination systems displayed on terminals at least periodically during countdown.

also, even though carriers do not move in the game, they would likely be piloted in universe, but the command crew just has keyboards. they should have flight sticks or wheels to maneuver the ship manually. this would be something they appear to do exiting a jump to maneuver the ship into position after leaving hyperspace.

also the crew appear to not be in a uniform. they have different color suits on.

and my command chair looks like a reccaro racing seat. no. take a look at the captain's chair from star trek shows and copy that.

at the very least it needs arm rests. you look stupid sitting there with your hands in your lap.

I want my crew to look like the mob of goddamn pirates the carrier menu suggests they should be

at least let them have whatever cosmetics are available to the owner, ideally let the owner fill out a set of checkboxes for what stuff they want their crew to choose from - so if you only pick one jumpsuit option and don't allow deviation, boom, you got your uniform.

You want to see a manger? I AM the manager. And this is my customer service department. Yes, all of them!
Now, what was that complaint you had about the food in the cafeteria again? Yes, my cook is right behind you.
I should warn you, she's been rather upset since her last husband was killed. Yes, by her own hand.
Something to do with his comment on her cooking...

The idea of a single suit for the fleet crew is a good idea! And maybe a little more people moving through the corridors -> so that brings us to the cabins or HAB areas of the fleet, it would be nice to incorporate some, inspired by what is done in planetary stations.
