Some love for the Adder in Horizons

I love the Adder as an explorer, and have been dreaming of bringing it to Sagittarius A* eventually, and of course in Horizons, who would want to venture out there without the ability to ride their SRV on the surfaces of distant worlds? And the Adder looks so superb as an explorer, like a future, high tech, slightly retro-futuristic space shuttle. I wanted to come back out of a steep crater, and see my trusty Adder parked there, waiting for me, a cozy home for the many weeks spent out in the cold.

There is just one catch with that idea: This here is a nice exploration loadout with a small and light shield, good fuel scoop, both scanners. I even added a cargo rack capable of holding two SRVs (one spare, in case things happen...). There is no more room for the actual SRV deployment module!.

Assuming the SRV deployment module is class 1, a single tiny class 1 internal compartment added to the Adder would already be enough to make this dream come true! (If the SRV deployment module is class 2, make this a class 2 compartment. :))

I know many of the devs are explorers at heart, and each of you probably has their favourite explorer. Please give the Adder some love, and this change I propose is in no risk of overpowering or overshadowing any of the other ships, but a nice touch that breathes some life into the Adder as a still-viable choice as a deep space explorer.

Please. :)

If anything the Adder needs... something. It's not got much of an edge or advantage in anything.

So yes, this sounds good.

Or ditch the spare srv, what were you thinking? Austerity, no, have your cake, be a 2 srv family, but don't come crying here if it all goes wrong. Pffffthhht

The thing is, that would gain it nothing. I could take a class 3 shield then and a class 2 cargo rack, for example, still can't use an SRV, because it is the number of modules, not total theoretical cargo space, that limits the Adder as an explorer.

I don't think you'll need an extra module. In 1.5 beta every ship have an additional "planetary landing suit" slot

This, the srv will ocupy 4t of cargo space, but wont actually take up a module slot. It was mentioned in one of the live streams, can't remember which one though.

Poor adder. I really like the cockpit, but I can't ever think of a reason to fly it. It's kind of like the Asp Scout. Agile with a longish range, but punishingly slow.

This might not be the case any more. It looks like you'll need to buy a module which contains multiple vehicle bays that you then populate with vehicles/SRVs:

The exact figures aren't finalised yet, but we're looking at around 25,000 credits for the basic module. The module can have one of more slots and each slot can hold one vehicle bay, you buy the bay (which includes an SRV) for 5,000 credits (TBD). If the SRV is destroyed then you need to buy a replacement and bigger modules can have more than one slot.

Adder will fly like a charm in atmo worlds. Mark my words!

;)

I am inclined to believe this. I think that is where the Adder will outshine all others. Plus it mskes a helluva taxi too. Lol. Paint that sucker yellow and I'm usually at my new destination in no time flat.

Okay, if that is true it means I could buy a class 3 bay for 2 SRVs (or a class 2 bay for 1 SRV) which is both the deployment and storage functionality in a single module... then hooray! If only Michael could respond and clarify... :D
