I had an issue yesterday with this as well.
I played for quite a while yesterday throughout the day.
When i came back to it later that evening i had a message to say the save data in the cloud didnt match what was on my pc.
Now the thing was the dates for the two options for the cloud and local data were the same time and date? so why was it even asking me ? On top of that the dates and time was from the previous day and nothing from that days game play.
I had completed another scenario in the career mode and done various bits to a test park i have and none of it had been saved?
I checked the autosaves which had some of my test park from that day but i had lost around 3 hours of play time in that park.
As for the career save the park hadnt saved and the stars for the park were back down to 2 stars.
Even my blueprints had to be re saved from ones i had placed in the test park or from the steam workshop where i had uploaded some too.
I had put this down to my slow connection here, upload is only max of 1 mb, but its been ok until this point.
So quite whats going on i dont know, will keep an eye on it but losing that much game save is not good.
Did you shut the computer down?
That's why it does that. It didn't had the chance to upload it to the cloud.
Always choose load from disk. As those are Always the most recent ones (unless you played somewhere on a different pc).
If you choose the cloud option it will be reverted to the last time you saved the game and you will lose the autosaves as well.
No i didnt turn the machine off, my pc is on 24/7 as i have Modem tracking stats running all the time for my line to show we need fibre down our street.
Also i leave it on over night for game updates etc, i am disabled and use my machine the most as and when my fibromyalgia allows.
So no its not this, pc hasnt been off in over a week
Also not had this with any other game on steam/origin/uplay/gog
My pc is on 24/7 because I record TV shows with media center, and record overnight shows. I save them to portable 4 or 5 tb hard drives.
Ok i picked option to upload from my pc to the cloud as the files seem newer, i sat waiting, no syncing appeared next to planet coaster in steam.
Waited some more, quit steam checked again for any steam updates and there was none. Started up the game again and the message about file conflict didnt happen and all my files from yesterday are present.
Very strange behavior and puts me off creating too much in case all gets lost....
Did you try a restart of the computer? That could help with clearing up the memory and sometimes fixes issues.
Do you need Steam Cloud for Planet Coaster? Do you play Planet Coaster on multiple computers? If not, then you could disable Steam Cloud for Planet Coaster. The downside is that you will need to make manual backups of your saved parks and blueprints in case of a system failure. Best to start with a full restart of your computer and see how it goes from there.
I am sorry but thats terrible advice, basically if my hard drive fails i would lose all my save game data unless im running a nightly/daily backup program to an external source somewhere.
The idea of a cloud save is so this would never happen, i have indeed restarted the pc to make sure there is nothing else going on, but again if other games are working as intended and only this one isnt then that would suggest a specific game issue?
This morning i have again went to start plant coaster and its now saying the cloud sync is from tuesday, each day it moves forward 1 day, so its not remembering/using yesterdays saved data in the cloud but the day before and this seems the case each day now, very strange behavior, my system time & date are correct and my machine is more than capable of running the game.

Its as if the files are not being picked up until a day later than they should be, odd.
No it's not terrible advice. If you want to keep the data, keep it safe yourself. It's just lazy to rely on a device to do it for you.
Contact Steam if you want this fixed.
its not lazy at all, the service is there to help keep and backup save game data and works with every other game on steam without issues.
Until FD confirm that they have looked into the problems and the issue is resolved and either fixed or marked as broken then i dont see how you can say contact steam or dismiss the issue.,
It seems im not the only one who has experienced the problem seeing as im not the op, plus the reported bugs with save games created in the bug section of the forum.
All i will say is i have this issue with only planet coaster
I have seen several reports via a google search of similar problems with planet coaster and steam sync
I need confirmation from the devs that this is fundamentally a steam issue and nothing related to planet coaster
You seem very defensive, but this problem exists and needs looking into one way or another
So Fdev, normally you respond on the Elite forums quite well. Please look into if this, is it a bug/steam issue/or something else.
