Some Powerplay Gripes

I gonna lay these here to voice my opinions and hopefully some people can relate to them and in turn hopefully inspire some change.

Make actual impact of powerplay activities available across all activities

First, I'm loving the new Powerplay generally speaking. I'm really liking how doing different things can help towards getting merits. Some ways are faster than others, but one thing I'm really hoping for is clarity. For example: When taking the Malware from whatever station to whatever settlement, you get merits for uploading them but you don't know how much actual progress is made toward increasing your powers standing in the system or undermining progress. You get some progress indication when handing in powerplay data that you get from downloading stuff from settlements but nothing else seems to have this indicator.

It would be much easier to record how much impact you're actually making with everything else if it showed your impact with the other activities (even if it means the merits you earn = the impact that's achieved).

Disable accumulation of local bounties and/or notoriety when doing powerplay activities

Another problem I've seemed to come across relates to bounties and notoriety. Doing certain powerplay activities (the settlement stuff) has given me lots of bounties and level 10 notoriety which has made doing other powerplay activities impossible to do, such as handing in escape pods (in this instance, I've collected escape pods in a reinforcing system and in the same system, the option to hand them in to the power is greyed out and because I'm notorious, the search and rescue contact is greyed out until I pay fines from doing OTHER powerplay activities). Powerplay activities from 1.0 were at least isolated enough from everyday activities where you only get a powerplay bounty and no fines, instead of getting local bounties AND fines.

In my eyes, making all clean ships and/or settlement NPCs aligned to whatever the local power is would fix this problem, as well as making it so anyone you kill that's aligned to a power that you "shouldn't" be killing, gives you a powerplay bounty that doesn't increase notoriety. Because some activities increase notoriety and give local bounties and fines, doing other activities for powerplay becomes impossible to do. Especially since in my case, I have to wait 10+ in-game hours to be able to do stuff in my local system again.

Fix Collector Limpets!

I feel there's also a balancing issue with Collector limpets: They're not collecting normally. They collect a bunch of escape pods or whatever, insert one into my ship and the rest sit outside my ship and deliver one every like 20 seconds or so. I feel this is supposed to balance the amount of merits I can earn in an hour, but it's going to get me killed if I can't collect all the pods in time before ships come to scan and shoot at me.

Show actual position on leaderboards as well as %

I do like the Leaderboards though. Seeing where I am against my fellow pilots is a nice form of motivation to do better, however I don't see why we have Top 25% and Top 10% but not also a definitive position, like 122nd, or 45th, or 7th. By calculating what % I'm in, it must also know my exact position, I think it'd be nice to see that too.

Fix bug relating to powerplay activity filter not filtering A. Lavigny-Duval systems

There's also a bug with the Galactic Map when filtering powers. Upon using the activity filter, selecting ALD (or my own power) doesn't filter the power, but filters any power. It's incredibly annoying when trying to figure out what to do next for my power. I included a picture so it's easier to understand.

Add a menu that shows high priority powerplay systems

Following this thread it would also be good to see which systems are high priority. This is a little vague but I'm talking about systems that are in danger of being overtaken by undermining (some form of 10% near threshold or whatever), or about to lose whatever tug of war, or reinforcing systems near hostile powers. Some players like to go for the objectives that matter most, so letting us make more informed decisions would only serve that purpose better. Also adding another overlay to show where the front lines actually are (like the bubble before) would be a good addition too.
Also, pretty sure the minimum activity level slider is just non-functioning lol

So yeah, that's my personal gripes with the game. Below is the basic bulletpoints of what I think should be worked on, from someone who does nothing but powerplay:

  • Make actual impact of powerplay activities available across all activities
  • Disable accumulation of local bounties and/or notoriety when doing powerplay activities
  • Fix Collector Limpets!
  • Show actual position on leaderboards as well as %
  • Fix bug relating to powerplay activity filter not filtering A. Lavigny-Duval systems
  • Add a menu that shows high priority powerplay systems
That's it, enjoy my gripes and rip me apart in the comments below

I will add:
1) I agree please fix the limpets
2) Why is the LYR discount gone from the galaxy for unpledged commanders? That discount was never a powerplay feature previously. Why was the 15% discount removed from LYR space? It wasn't in the patch notes so is it a bug, or did Fdev remove the discount unless pledged and not tell anyone?
3) Seems like Elite is much busier since the patch, long system jump tunnels, lots of lag... please fix via adding more resources to handle all the extra people playing elite

Not entirely certain the limpets have an isolated problem case but I did notice attempting to scoop manually that escape pods half the time just go woosh. So I'm unsure if it's 2 different problems or the escape pods and what not having an issue getting in the cargo altogether

I like most if not all of the listed recommendations. But top of the list for me is a Galactic map that shows highly contested systems, stronghold & fortified systems in danger of being undermined & expansions that are rapidly advancing in a bright PULSING color

I've noticed the ship often thinks the cargo bay is full for 20 seconds or so

This is a big deal for me as well, since I'm in an ALD discord and get my orders from there. Even they are having a more difficult time seeing where to focus the community.

I like the pulsing idea, it seems a bit more do-able than reimplementing the bubble graphic

(even if it means the merits you earn = the impact that's achieved).
This is what happens - if you get 20 merits for an activity, that's 20 points for your side in the system too. Very simple.
(The only exception I know of being the bonus merits you get from the weekly tasks)

Also, pretty sure the minimum activity level slider is just non-functioning lol
No, it works, it's just calibrated way too steep!

If you set it to the first notch of "Low" that'll restrict the view to just systems where things are really happening, which is hardly any of them.
You can bring it up about half-way through Medium before everywhere disappears.

I did have an inkling that was the case, but it would be nice if there was direct confirmation that was the case. To not be told with some activities, but you do with others, tends to create these questions.
