Game Discussions Some questions about my new monitor (Dell S3220DGF) and Elite Dangersous

So i got a brand new 32" monitor, looks amazing, color really good, according to online tests almost exactly on the srgb line (tho i like it a tad brighter)

So my questions are:
1. What is "dark stabilizer"? It just looks to me like it cranks up the gamma a bit, is that it?

2. Any way to use HDR with elite? When i turn on any HDR settings ED looks kind of horrible.

Thanks :)

I'd say a way to make black look black and not like very dark grey. Depends really on the game with HDR. If you haven't much dynamic range it's not gonna do much I guess. So if your on the dark side in Elite Dangersur don't expect marvels.

A friend of mine has one of these. It's not a bad display for the money.

'Dark stabilizer', 'black equalizer' and similar settings (even just 'brightness' on some displays with separate backlight controls) adjust the illumination floor. If it's implemented well, it can eliminate black crush that is common on VA panels without totally destroying color accuracy. The problem with most implementations is that it's not granular enough to be very useful. This Dell is one of those, IIRC.

HDR is best ignored on HDR400 displays. These displays have the bare minimum brightness required to achieve certification and almost none of them provide a good HDR experience. Elite: Dangerous doesn't support DisplayHDR anyway.
