Some Questions About The Future For Bo, Devs and Team

Hi Bo, Devs and Team!

As a player that's lost 2000 amazingly spent hours to Planco since launch and well over 1000 in alpha, I was wondering if I could as you some questions about the "art of the possible" things for the future as I know that a lot of people ask these questions. I get the some of them may be under wraps and some you can't say and I'm also fully expecting these to go unanswered too... but I thought I'd ask anyway!

I know that these things have already been ruled out for PlanCo:
Beach Biomes (many times on here because of the complexities and processing requirement of water)
Water Parks (a post from Bo a while back in Suggestions - can't make them to the quality that we would expect)
Walk-through attractions like Mazes (Andy on Facebook because of the way that the guest AI / Brain works, the payoff isn't worth the effort)

But what I'd love to know is whether these ones are categorically ruled out or whether we MAY see them in the future? Based on my time in parks and playing the game:

Weather - Stated by Jonny Watts at one of the conventions during Alpha that "No theme park game is complete without weather"?
On-Ride Photos - Missing as a sell-able item since RCT2
Annual Pass Sales (at info kiosks) - To increase revenue streams but maybe they come back next time and not pay to get in
Single Shot Fastpass - Guest buys a single fast-pass for a ride they want to skip the queue for
On / Off Peak open / closed cycle - Park closes and empties for the missing 4 months of the game

Thank you for anything you can say! :)

Weather has been ruled out many times.

There is more possible than having physical rain.

Please show the post where it has been ruled out.
I know where the one for water parks is. but I can not find the one about weather.

I thought it where the users that where ruling it out.

I know that weather has been "implemented" in the form of SFX and using these on mass causes serious performance issues... but that doesn't mean that it's ruled out as they would be an environmental layer effect rather than an in-world localised thing.

I wasn't aware that it had been ruled out by any of the team. Would be keen to see that?

I know it has been said either here or on a stream. I don't remember exactly where and I don't have time to go looking for it.

If you can't back the statements then don't place them.

That is why he is asking it. He's not asking for the feature to be implemented, he's asking what the thoughts of Frontier are about it.

Would be lovely to have a development route map of where they see the game going, ideas that are currently in development or at a concept phase.

Unfortunately the issue with that is they will then be making statements about things that may or may not come to realisation. This is probably more damaging to the community than keeping quiet and only releasing finished details.

That said, it would still be nice to hear about the projects that are certain.

For me personally, I’d like their thoughts on future gameplay mechanics and if there are any additional modes / elements planned.

But.. if it's been debunked already, then it doesn't matter who finds the post / stream. So, while lilibat may not have the time, memory or inclination to find it, some-one else may :)

To add. I just searched and scrolled every topic about weather. But in none of the threads there was an official response from Frontier.

It where all insinuations of members saying it would slow performance.

Apparantly according to user Scott it was mentioned in the update 1.4 livestream, which was released as part of the anniversary update 22/11/2017. (https://forums.planetcoaster.com/sh...Effects-(-RCT3-had-those!)?highlight=weather)

Maybe plans have changed.

I still feel there is more possible than rain, like temperature drops etc. That way climate actually makes sense when choosing at the start of a game (Alpine (sunny but colder), Desert (hot and dry), decidious (sunny and nice weather), etc.) Instead of only changing textures).

That way climate becomes part of planning (more drink stalls? more hot food stalls? less or more water rides?)

Agreed...
Coasters above certain heights closing in high winds
Heat and Cold affecting the demand / prestige of rides throughout a seasonal cycle (warm weather = higher demand for water rides)
Likewise for shops (cold weather = demand for coffee, warm for ice cream or water)
Thunderstorms closing rides
Park attendance "down" (guest generation rate) during colder or wetter weather (giving us a little more "seasonal" style parks with peaks and troughs in attendance)
Guest happiness affected by weather if shade, rain cover etc is not catered for (hard one to implement with well over 1000 objects in the game)
Introduction of new shop items such as sunscreen, glasses, umbrellas or at the minimum a new hat.
Maybe damage to rides in high winds / stormy conditions (probably implemented as breakdowns or prestige reduction rather than damage like that in TwoPoint Hospital)

Weather could literally be a game-changer if the effort was put into it...

In one of the many livestreams, someone said, that weather will be not a part of Planco. It was time ago, but it was definively said.

I think, that the main problem would be the same as for RCT3. If you have rain, it will be also in your shops. roofed rides, in your landscaped caves etc.

There is more than rain.......

Why do people board water rides in the freezing cold environments?

Like Aaron says, weather can be a massive gamechanger, and we are not only talking about rain.......

Now seasonal changes would be nice. Shops that sell items and you need to remember to adjust for the season in order to maintain profit. Guests start putting on coats, as stated water rides become more / less popular. There are elements that could be implemented without the need for rain. It might feel incomplete but would be an amazing game mechanic.

It´s true that would be cool. I always thought waterrides are way too popular and if there was mechanic, that would dynamicaly change (otherwise static) popularity of rides, it would indeed be a huge game changer.

Exactly! Heck, even just a gray sky as a visual change could change the atmosphere of our parks so much..

In the UK, we board water rides whatever the weather to be honest. [haha]

In Sweden too! The FlumeRide and Kållerado will still get riders in freezing October with max 10 degrees C temp outside. ;D Maybe not as long queues that has to be said. But there are riders!

Ok now to the topic. I did not know the maze and walk-throughs have been answered. Ah, too bad. I hoped for that one.

As for weather...

We already got the color effects filters. That was done and not bad.
Then why not use THAT and add overlay of rain. To save CPU it can be very simple, just some "feeling" of bad weather overlaid... No need of actual puddles. I know some would be idiots and whine. But for me it is ok!

But now typing above, I realize the building pieces..... Standing inside and it is still "rainy". Oh well, got me there. Ok. :D [haha] NEVERMIND. I see. In *theory* it can be solved manually by people adding trigger neutral lights inside buildings. Like those daylight trigger. hmmm.
