Some Questions About The Future For Bo, Devs and Team

So there will never be a way to make walk through haunted houses unless we use queue path or regular path? I would say the best way would be to use queue path through the house and have a flat ride at the end in a haunted room. Like the Psychola. So working mini golf will never be possible either? I would use mini golf path for walk through haunted houses in RCT3.

Here in the UK, we really DO ride water rides in any temp.. but there is still a fluctuation in demand between March and July.. Tidal Wave at Thorpe Park is the best example of this.. It can be a walk-on in March / April and have 3 hour queues in July / August (when it's exceptionally and rarely hot).

The only issue within PlanCo for this temperature fluctuation to occur is pretty much the same one that would affect Cities Skylines with real-time traffic (aside from the mod that does it) - The in-game time passes too fast to react. A day / night cycle is a month and larger parks of 10,000 or more would struggle to change demand in the current time-scale. Considering:

Guests in current queues need to be able to queue, board and ride the ride they are CURRENTLY waiting for
They then need to decide what the temp is vs what they want to do next
They need to get to this new ride
They need to queue for and ride that ride;

All before the temp and demand changes again. In some parks, I've seen it take 2 game months for a guest to walk from the entrance to a ride at the back of the park.

The only way around it is to make the game day day significantly longer in real-time or make 1 day equal 1 week instead (would pave the way for open / closed seasons though). BUT, this will require the entire game to be re-balanced completely and I can't see the pay-off being worth the effort that Frontier would need to put into this. Not when there is a working system already... And it may also annoy the casual player if it's a fundamental change to the game mechanics. This also wouldn't be something suitable for a DLC as you'd have 2 different time-zones to contend with. So the only logical option is to not bother... Sadly...

Isn't there Weather in JWE?

Yes, but it's a totally different engine and coding, so it's not safe to say "If it's in one, it can be in the other" just because they are both Cobra Engine games, sadly..

Same engine, different iteration of engine, different game entirely :).

As for the questions, I did think we previously mentioned this in an official manner (I could've sworn it was a forum reply) but weather is not in the plans for Planet Coaster at the moment. The closest thing is the rain effect in the Spooky Pack, or static snow objects from the Winter Update.

The team will continue to look at the game and see what can be implemented with regards to your other suggestions. They are all things we've seen previously as great player feedback and they have been considered (meaning we have seriously looked at how such a feature would work). It'll be something we can look at again in the future.

Cheers!

I would really like a way to make walk through haunted houses with a walking path but right now if you use regular path you can't make it one way and you can't charge people to go through, use a queue path with a ride, the queue path is one way and that will work but I don't want to use a ride at the end all the time. We need something like RCT3 mini golf path.

Weather was discussed in the 1.4 livestream: https://youtu.be/ca4wLeARSwc?t=2501 as an answer to a question; Bo stated in the video "Weather is not coming" and Sam goes on a bit on why (this live stream was very good as it answers some other questions and you get some insights into the development challenges from Sam)

So are round stations for coasters and tracked rides possible?[rolleyes]

I very often thing these "challenges" caused devs. themselves with some strange decisions they made. Sometimes, I think they just made some things more complicated and the game got a bit "messy" in it´s core. Greatly, you can notice that in some UI elements (especially regarding rides).

With any software development, it is complex so of course, some things are a trade off of others, and some things are just not possible. Things are not usually decided on a whim in my experience. Clean code is not a fix all answer for the impossible.

Yes programming is hard.

Now fix coaster smoothness please, its been long overdue. [down]

At this point I'd just appreciate being able to make 2 meter wide normal paths (without having to do a bunch of tricks to get them) and the ability to turn off curbs on elevated paths. (Being able to have "curbless" natural paths would be nice, too)

I just realised yesterday, I want a natural queue path.....

There you go.

Posts don't have to come with an annotated bibliography and that previous comment toward me was rude. That's all I am going to say about it.

Continuous Roll (what Scrubbers is talking about) is something very different than what is covered in that video.

The other part of the issue is that the first person camera likes to anticipate changes in direction, and will try to adjust before hand; so it ends up changing twice. (Extreme example of this: riding the Barghest in first person camera as it crests the vertical lift segment.) Both of these together (lack of continuous roll and the first person camera issues) can lead to a very jerky POV.
