Nothing too overhauly.
Visual cue for Surface Scan
We currently have an audio cue for scanning, but nothing visual. Not that we really need it, but maybe a progress bar or something?
Faint Outline Showing Scanner Arc
Togglable, but shows your scanners arc in the HUD, so you know roughly were to keep your target.
Scanner Range
When selecting a body out of your scanners range, show some sort of "Range or ETA To Scan" somewhere, so we know roughly how long until a scan can happen.
This idea is a bit more game changing...
This probably wouldn't go down well, but it's just an idea. I have no idea if I'd even like it.
Anyhoo, when you honk, it currently discovers everything in the system/range, based on scanner rating.
What if, honking only discovered gas giants, stars, and planets with a high mass...?
To reveal what else is in the system, you scan the primary star.
This would then reveal planets that directly orbit the star. But not their moons, or anything from a secondary star.
To detect the moon's you need to scan the parent body to reveal them.
And so on... If that makes sense... Lol
There could be some "clues" as to whether a planet has something orbiting it in the system map. No idea what. Lol
You can also auto reveal moons by flying within your scanners automatic range.
It would encourage scanning of more systems, rather than honk and jump.
Bubble travellers can still use the nav beacon to discover all bodies.
That's that daft idea out of the way...
I think that is all.
Anyone like any of those?
