1. It increases recharge rate. Your shields come back quicker, higher move speed and weapons cool down quicker.

Wow thanks, what would you recommend for exploring then? brecause i thought the hauler was pretty good now that i upgraded the drive, i can jump 16 light years. Also the Eagle i tried to explore in had a great view from the cockpit but i felt very vulnerable, thre armour was rubbish i was killed very quickly on one occasion, and if i save up for an expesnive scanner i need a tough ship

!. What does increasing your power to your systems do, does it make your shields stronger?

it recharges them faster, also some equipped items such as the heat sink launcher require power diverted to systems for them to work

2. Where do the Thargoids live?

nobody knows

3. What should you do to maximise your chances of getting back into supercruise once interdicted, if you don't want to fight?
4 pips to engines and boost boost boost.

4. Where are the empire and alliance factions based?
the Empire's capitol is Achenar, the alliance presidency moves between member systems annually and as far as i am aware does not have a capitol as such.

5. How do i accept an incoming voice comms request? How do i reject one?
via the comms menu, press 2 on your keyboard.

6. How do you find an unexplored star that you know is in a system, because it is shown on the system map?

with the discovery scanner, another method is to follow NPC's or other cmdr's who may already have the data.

7. Where can you see the data of another system when you buy it's trade data?

good question, no idea.

8. When you buy cartographic data of a system, is that the only data you'll ever need on it? Or can more stuff be found out about said system which you may buy more of later?

it depends on how well the system has been explored, there is always the possibility that there is something else out there waiting to be discovered.

9. Is a Zorgon Peterson Hauler a decent choice for exploration?

not really enough equipment slots but it could be a good basic explorer, the cobra would be much better though as you can install more in one.

10. How can i tell if a ship is a player or an npc?

NPC's show as solid on your radar, human players are hollow.

11. Why do some npc's get blown up outside and inside of stations?

cause they are stupid and loiter in the slot or are scanned and discovered to be wanted.

12. How can you see floating cargo?

cargo appears solid white on the radar although its easy to confuse with FSD wakes that are also white.

13. Are there black holes to be found?

yes.

14. Are the Thargoids the only intelligent life out there apart from humans?

no, there may also be a few rogue AI out there, and by AI i don't mean the NPC's.

15. Can you reach another solar system without using supercruise?

ANd that's all i can think of, thank you if you had a go at any of them :)

i presume you mean hyperspace, no its not possible - you have to jump to hyperspace to get the game to load the next system.

!. What does increasing your power to your systems do, does it make your shields stronger?

Your shields are as strong as your shield generator. You can make your shields recharge faster by increasing power to your 'Systems' and by buying a bigger power plant or more efficiant power distributor. Shield cells can replenish your shields but only before they collapse.

2. Where do the Thargoids live?
In Frontier: First Encounters the Thargoid home system was said to be 'Miacke'. I have a feeling this won't necessarily be the case in Elite: Dangerous.

3. What should you do to maximise your chances of getting back into supercruise once interdicted, if you don't want to fight?
RUN! Put three pips in Engines, two in Systems, throttle up and boost repeatedly to get out of there.

4. Where are the empire and alliance factions based?
The captial of the Empire is Achenar, and Alioth is the capital of the Aliiance. I believe the core imperial systems require a permit but you'll only be able to get one after launch with a high reputation with the Empire.

5. How do i accept an incoming voice comms request? How do i reject one?
As far as I remember, press '2', choose the CMDR calling you and 'Accept Voice Chat'.

6. How do you find an unexplored star that you know is in a system, because it is shown on the system map?

7. Where can you see the data of another system when you buy it's trade data?
In the Commodities Market there is a menu in the column for 'Galactic Average' listing all the places you have trade data for. Trade data only shows what your current system exports or imports from the system you have selected, not prices.

8. When you buy cartographic data of a system, is that the only data you'll ever need on it? Or can more stuff be found out about said system which you may buy more of later?
I'm not sure on this one.

9. Is a Zorgon Peterson Hauler a decent choice for exploration?
It's definitely not a decent choice for exploration as it's the 34th century equivalent of a transit fan. You could give it a try, but I think decent exploration ships start at the Cobra Mk. III, but a good pilot with an upgraded Eagle could be successful.

10. How can i tell if a ship is a player or an npc?
Players have hollow triangles (hard points deploy) or squares. NPCs are solid.

11. Why do some npc's get blown up outside and inside of stations?

Too much Lavian Brandy.

12. How can you see floating cargo?
You can select it by pressing '1' and looking at the contacts tab.

13. Are there black holes to be found?
Yes, several have been discovered: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=63639&highlight=mintaka

14. Are the Thargoids the only intelligent life out there apart from humans?
Possibly not, but we don't know for sure.

15. Can you reach another solar system without using supercruise?

No, I don't think you can.

6. How do you find an unexplored star that you know is in a system, because it is shown on the system map?

Fly fast. Spot movement in the star field. Best way for this case is to fly high above the plane of the stars, look down at it, move at about 50 Ls / second and try to spot the movement in the missing place of the orbit lines.

8. When you buy cartographic data of a system, is that the only data you'll ever need on it? Or can more stuff be found out about said system which you may buy more of later?

There can be more. You can actually use the price for the data as indicator whether or not the exploration will earn good credits.

9. Is a Zorgon Peterson Hauler a decent choice for exploration?

yes. It has 4 internal compartments for Scanner / Scoop / Shields / Cargo (or 2 scanners and no cargo or shields). And it can have a very good range once it's FSD is upgraded.

15. Very slowly
If you point at the targeted star it will tell you how long at your current speed it will take to reach. But we are talking years

But you can't enter that system unless you go through supercruise as otherwise the session won't change. If you don't go through SC, you'll never reach that system no matter how long you fly.
