Some ships i'd like to see (Kinda fan fiction)

Revenant Custom Hulls.

Revenant have a simple proposition. They salvage the hulls of destroyed ships and refit them, selling them on a comfortable profit to satisfied customers. Of course regs state that all ships must be sold with their standard modules, which means that custom hull market was always strictly after-market – until recently. Tommi Illinois from RHC explains “Well, a lot of people were seeing custom hulls out there and coming in asking for X or Y. We had the tell them to get a hull, bring it to us and we’d refit it for them. But we noticed a lot of people were asking for particular setups they’d seen around or in entertainment media, even calling them by particular names. Of course we can’t build to order so they had to find a hull and bring it to us – a lot of trouble. So we’ve registered as a ship builder in our own right, offering that custom feel off the peg. All our hulls are professionally refitted. If we think we save save a salvaged hull we’ll refit it – if it’s too far gone then we strip it for parts needed in other builds – virtually nothing is wasted”. Cool. All ships come with in “Rev Blue” as standard and feature chrome detailing. Anyone who’s head a Viper running a customer RC exhaust will know, these guys know how to make a ship sound right.

At the moment there are several "builds" offered by RCH;

RC-1 “Mauler”. Combat in a Hauler is usually seen as something you do to save face before the inevitable micro-jump – it’s single class 1 HP being essentially useless. The Mauler upgrades that to a Class 3 HP, mounted further back than the Hauler’s usual gun. It also has a greater armour and is fitted with Enhanced performance drives from the shop as well as an enhanced dizzy & Bi Weave. Where did they put all that? - let’s just say when a Hauler becomes a Mauler it is no longer a Hauler…. Okay, it’s a cheap way into a macho large HP. It packs a lot of clout for the money. Which is the whole point. Totally brilliant. In a totally stupid way.

RC-2 “Tantrum”. The Imperial Eagle is a cheap way into the Gutamaya game. Many Gutamaya traditionalists expressed concern or disdain at this & who knows how they’ll feel about RCH’s take on it. With EP Thrusters and dual Class 2 HP as standard it’s arguably the best version of the Eagle there is. RCH are no great fans of Imperial elitism, hence the name, but they know a good hull when they see it, obviously, and it’s aesthetics are equally appealing as the stock IE,but in a totally different way. The Tantrum has a single class 3 compartment and also features 3 class 2 military compartments. Quite honestly, you might not miss shields at all. Without them it runs cool and quiet. RCH clearly can’t recommend their products for anything illegal, but if we were betting men, we’d bet this will be a popular choice amongst smugglers and a certain class of pirate. Hence, lots of Police attention. C’mon, look at it.

RT 2 “Burger”. It’s a Keelback on Onionhead.. It has 1 Huge HP on top and 1 underneath (where the fighter bay used to be!). Yes, it’s named after the foodstuff, as apparently it’s odd weapon placement gives it a field-of-fire that resembles a burger. You know what else it gives it (aside from the agility of a hippo on an ice-rink)? - fitted with turrets it’s virtually impossible to approach this thing without it being in a position to fire on you. RCH fit both turrets without interfering with the keelback’s cargo capacity, and retained the 2 Class 1 hardpoints however the keeley’s class 2’s take an early shower. But why would you need those peashooters with when you’re rocking some class 4 goodness? - “Well, we guess most folks will want those for the mining lasers”, explains Tommi. Ah, yes. Silly us.

RM 1 “King Cobra”. A lot of people have a lot of affection for the Cobra. Trouble is, as you move up in the world your needs increase and the dear old Cobra eventually is just too damned small – this could be the answer. The name is a bit misleading as it’s actually based on an Asp Explorer. Tommi explains “Basically we wanted the same experience as the Cobra in terms of handling and simplicity and so on, but with more capacity. Well, this is our take on it. The Asp is a good place to start as it’s a great ship with a basically similar silhouette. We fit 2 large Hardpoints and 2 medium. upgrade the thrusters and so on. It has the size of an ASP, but honestly flies more like a Cobra. Ships today don’t have oversize thrusters like the Cobra does – so we fitted some salvaged from an FDL...”. 2 Large Hps and 2 Medium – could be a favourite with Miners but it would be a pity to overlook it’s impressive combat chops. But all that comes at a cost as Tommi knows “yeah – I don’t know how many people are going to buy one of these, when you could have a Python for about the same money…. It’s probably more for Cobra fans...” One thing is does have in common with the Cobra is the cockpit – it’s salvaged from a Cobra Mk4. As far a cargo goes, it has the same number of slots as the Cobra, but as the hull is larger they’re all up one Category.

RF-64 “Little Bustard”. Basically an energy drink with thrusters! A F63 Condor, stripped of the equipment necessary for docking with ships and refitted with basic (and we mean basic) landing gear and a class 1 Frameshift drive. You’ll need to turn the FSD off to power-on weapons (We’d imagine an engineer could sort that – RCH say they “could”, but re-certifying the FSD isn’t worth it). They’ve even managed to carve out a single class 1 compartment for cargo, unfortunately at the cost of the condor’s plasma repeaters although all other weapon types should bolt right on. Interestingly enough, the hull here isn’t salvaged itself but is printed on a salvaged fighter bay and then modified to suit (CD apparently aren’t too happy about this arrangement). However, many of the components are salvaged including the FSD, components of the landing gear and stock weapons and life support. On that note, as it was never intended to have human crew it isn’t pressurised, so you’ll be wearing a remlock the moment you leave a station – RCH (being responsible dudes!) fit 1A for 25 minutes of air and recommend you always carry iron and nickel for a quick refill. Exciting stuff. Cheap. Fast. Loud. Inherently dangerous. We love it.

Rumours of the Taipan and Gu-97 getting similar treatment in time abound. We can’t wait.

(Yes, RCH are "Space Pimp-My-Ride")

Idea: box made out of salvaged Anaconda hull plates, fitted with a massive FSD, and little else. The ultimate deep-space explorer. Has the armor of a paper bag, though.
