Some "technical" information...

Hi all,
I'd like to have some information before buying the game:

1. My 3 years old machine mounts an intel Core i7 960 @3.2 GHz, 12 Gb DDR3, an ATI (yep, ATI) Radeon HD5870: with these specs how would the game run at a resolution of 1600*900?

2. My monitor is a 20" monitor, so is the game enjoyable with only 20" (I'm asking this because the cockpit seems to occupy a lot of space, leaving not much space to admire the universe )

3. My joystick is a very old Microsoft Sidewinder Precision 2 (it's a 1998's model, but I had no problems with any game/simulator until now), would it work fine or I need an alternative?

4. Does the game have already a singleplayer/offline mode or not? (where I live, in a small rural town in Italy, the connection is ok for most of the time, but sometimes it sucks for days )

Thanks to anyone who will answer :)

Hi all,
I'd like to have some information before buying the game:

I have a Core i720 and it's running fine. I HAD 2 HD5870 cards but I went for a R9 290 card. There were many issues with these older cards during Alpha and early Beta versions. I am also going to play Star Citizen so I needed to beef up anyway.
1600*900 will not be optimal as you'll require some resolution for cockpit stuff going on. You might want to check out some clips or search further on the forum regarding this. I ran it on 1680x1050 for a while and that was OK.

2. My monitor is a 20" monitor, so is the game enjoyable with only 20" (I'm asking this because the cockpit seems to occupy a lot of space, leaving not much space to admire the universe )
For reference: my smallest monitor is 22" on 1680x1050 which was playable as mentioned above.
With the new videocard I run it on a 27" monitor at 2560x1440 and that is without any issues. There are some optimisation that still need to be done by Frontier Developments but believe me it is running fine.

3. My joystick is a very old Microsoft Sidewinder Precision 2 (it's a 1998's model, but I had no problems with any game/simulator until now), would it work fine or I need an alternative?
It should work but I can imaganine that you will still need the keyboard for a number of commands which shouldn't be a problem.

4. Does the game have already a singleplayer/offline mode or not? (where I live, in a small rural town in Italy, the connection is ok for most of the time, but sometimes it sucks for days )
Nope. It currently has a SOLO mode but that requires to connect to the universe server.

Thanks to anyone who will answer :)

You're welcome I hope my comments were of any help.

Thank you :)

For the 1600*900 monitor question: I have also a 1920*1080 TV, but it's only 19"...Could I have still a better visual experience without that 1"?

One more question: with my configuration, could I make the game run at a good frame rate (30 or 60 stable fps), whit every effect (except AA and, maybe, shadows) maxed?

It should work but I can imaganine that you will still need the keyboard for a number of commands which shouldn't be a problem.
Yeah, I would use joystick+keyboard (and mouse?), at least until I'll be able to buy a HOTAS Warthog: it's a lot of time, I want to upgrade my GPU first :)
However, if my joystick dies, could I use the x360 pad (I know, it wouldn't be the best solution, but...) with keyboard, obviously?
