Yeah I’ve started taking out Cap ships, which should give you some idea how lame they are.
I crawl along the broadside taking out the cannons where the turrets can’t get a shot on me, and then work on the turrets. The NPCs take out the Heat Relays.
The first time I did it, I just accidentally got pushed there after a ram and I just shot whatever was in front of me. The cannon went down and I realised that in all this sea of fireworks - I wasn’t taking hits.
So I did the next one.
Pretty soon I had the flow, and the Fed Capital ship waked out.
It was only afterwards that I asked someone at HQ “How do you actually target the Heat Relays?”
Because at that point I had read the mission instructions to take them out, but I couldn’t find them by selecting “target straight ahead”.
One of the better pilots told me to target them using the Sub Target side panel. Which I think is a bit of a bug. Usually I scroll through subtargets with my HOTAS. “Six clicks Prev to the FSD - Seven to the Power Plant.”
So having to go into a different menu to sub target a thing because my sub target BINDING doesn’t select the sub target for cap ships, well it’s just a bit crap isn’t it? A bit like the Frontier attention to detail we’ve come to know and love.
I wonder if there’s anything else that can’t be sub targeted by the sub target binding, and has to use the menu? Thargoid hearts or their cloaca?
