Some things to make and do. (Two Esports for Elite)

I'm an idea person. A kind of Raymond Reddington in space (watch more TV).

I've had a couple of ideas and I need you good people to get enthused about them to make them a thing.

1: SRV Death Race 4000. We gather on a suitably exciting world and we make a race course. Now, the more, um, ah, gentle among us have suggested racing but they lacked the fun of absolute carnage. You would be able to shoot the other competitors. You'd simply spawn at your ship again and start the course again. We could, with the numbers, even have shooting galleries to race through. Winner gets a set of steak knives.

2: Spaceship dressage. With multi crew this is possible now. It's basically a landing your ship correctly and accurately. We gather at a space port and take turns landing with a judge as multi crew. Points awarded for grace, difficulty (unwieldy ships), speed and accuracy. Winner gets a set of steak knives.

More ideas later.

Anopheles.

Do the dressage mode with FA-off and it makes sense. It adds a bit of grace to otherwise unwieldy monsters. And make sure you put On the Beautiful Blue Danube as the video music.

Yes. Winner on a tie would be person with lowest rated modules. You could maybe do it with flight assist on but you'd lose marks heavily for difficulty. Do crew get ship alerts like fa on or off? To help with the inscrupulous?

I can be online definitely on Monday evening for the Space Landing Sports day.

I was thinking:

Everyone in type 7s (possible beluga subcategory)
10 million/3million/1 million prizes
Hexastation
Start out side
6 points for station entry, speed, landing in the very centre of the circle
3 judges to be paid 1 mil who can't compete
F/a off
No autopilot

Sound good?

Also had another idea for a Sport: crevasse extraction

We gather around a crevasse in a lowish gravity world. You put your SRV in. You pull yourself out. Fastest wins.

Nice ideas Commander.

You might like to post on the Buckyball Racing Club thread too, as that's a group that's interested in competitions and challenges. Might help you drum up some more participants.

I can imagine a three day event or, decathalon!??
A sprint race, followed by a skill challenge, followed by a test of bravery and/or some act of stupidity?
:D

There have been a number of Stellar Forge updates since this event.
I wonder if the Altais 2B Monolith is still there in Beyond One Beta, I'm keeping my eyes open for Round 2!

I had a load of ideas for some fun competitive/co-op PvP battles.

But after a short trial, we found out that just getting 4 players working together was more difficult than actually fighting.

Main one is Canyon Racing. with guns
No flying above the canyon walls.
Cease fire at shields down.
Shields down means you're out. (So you don't have to respawn and fly back to the race). Just fly back to the start and await a new round.
Everyone has identical ships and loadout. But there's no way to check this yet.

:D

The other is destroy the mothership.
Two teams. Both sides have a large ship (probably Anaconda) with identical outfitting. Mostly turrets.
Two classes of fighters. One interceptor, one bomber. All identical loadouts.
Then you fight in various locations.
Shields down on any ship means you're out. Shields down on the mothership means the other team won.
Fights can take place anywhere, belts, planets, CQC assets. Etc.
:D

Again, instancing makes it virtually impossible. Lol

Wait for the 'We don't want an MMO, we want a dry space sim' crowd to jump on you. I'd love this kind of stuff, team DM, onslaught, CTF.../sigh

I love your canyon run idea, Ariel would be AWESOME for that, as it has random tight canyons. I fyou want to see what I mean, youtube 'why we don't go to Ariel any more', and imagine combat racing...mmmm.

Suprisingly, people do want these fun mini-games. Ideally with official support.

But what we need most for funzies, is a way to check ships for engineering. As it's stands, engineering completely ruins any form of balance for light hearted fun.
Engineering free mini games means it's all down to skill. And stops excessive speed and infinite shields and whatnot that would ruin the games.

So all we need is to be able to see if a module is modified when we scan them.
Competitors are scanned on entry (and re-entry if they explode. Lol) mods are not allowed.
Then fun!

We could also have some dedicated "competition ships". Which have semi fixed loadouts(can only choose weapons), and can't be modified at all.

Like a "Racing Eagle", has special unique engines, which can't be modified. But allow speeds up to 1000~m/s (or whatever the maximum stable speed is for smooth Multiplayer).
All other modules are fixed class and rating, weapons are optional (2xC1), but limited to fixed only pulse, burst, beam or MCs.
No utility slots, no extra Internal slots, just a fixed class/rating stock shield generator.
Cheap and cheerful. Just for competitive play.
Same could be done for other ships, vipers, Cobras, DBSs, even a Python, FDL, or be totally silly and have a racing T9 for utter lolz. All fixed loadouts, and really cheap. But only useful for racing. (No internals, except a shield, ultra limited weapon loadout, no utilities, crap/no jump range but free/super cheap near instant transfer)

:D

There's an audio notification every time you switch modes, and a visual indicator on the top-right panel.
