Some updates about things coming (and speculation)

I hate this interviewers for never asking anything about exploration. :p

Since beta i don't know if i should wait for the Exploration DDA come true or if i should abandon my hopes.

Agree with Pecisk. I think Powerplay was first big step to persistent NPC. If you look at the Persistent NPC's DDF topic here, Powers are basicly Tier 1 NPCs. And since we have tier 3 NPC, we only miss tier 2 NPC. And agree that will be big part of the passenger gameplay.

Tier 2 NPCs (and gameplay around them) is #1 in my 1.4 wishlist. :)

A very good point.

I think what might be useful is not so much a roadmap, but more of a current plotted route, an indication of the known or expected features that the good people at FD are currently and actively working towards. It might not be "soon" and it might not be a precise description, but if we know for sure that they are working on something then that is a good thing.

All I know from various E3 correspondence is that something "very big" is coming and is being worked upon, but the source of that knowledge cannot divulge any further details. I for one have no idea what that thing is, so don't ask me. :)

Well, yeah, but no company ever advertises being working on useless bits of stuff that won't be published. FD has already used bait & switch too many times and conned too many people for it to work any longer, at least for me.

So it seems David spill some beans on Joystiq stream (with not huge amount of details, but still) regarding two features which are major favorites for many backers. See above link to get precise quote.

My take from this is - this is what I kinda expected. Damage models have been known as in works for quite some time now and Anaconda screenshots when damaged seriously has been popular with people. So according to David they have some deadline date for big ship wrecks feature. It's not for public yet as they are still working on it, but by sound (***huge speculation warning***) of it it's this year and relatively soon (August, Autumn?). Hopefully we will start to see some in-game screenshots soon.

That means hopefully scavenging added as real profession (with potentially found cargo being able carried around as salvage? Hopefully).

As for passenger transportation - again, not big surprise there, as I expect passenger transportation being added only after having a) NPC dialogs and b) 2nd tier persistent NPCs as mission givers. Both are huge additions and it will take time to get ED to that point.

Absolutely agree. I am already happy hearing David say "we have specific dates for those features in mind" (passenger missions and launching small ships from large vessels like the Anaconda).

This is synonymous to Michael's trademarked "It's still on the list", so much better than "we don't have any immediate plans for that" ;)

I really hope the "persistent NPCs" (including contacts) are still "on the list", too, since I haven't read or heard a single comment by any of the developers lately that really confirmed the persistent NPCs still being "on the list" at all.

This news wasn't exactly advertised, though. ;)

Yeah, hate it when they add all new game mechanics, when something like Exploration is still broken and incomplete at a very rudimentary level. Can't wait how half-baked the new features will be - and stay, if this turns out to be the M.O.
