Somebody try to dock a Type-10 Defender at an Odyssey settlement with a large pad

Mods can go ahead and remove this if you like. I searched the bug tracker (and found nothing) so I didn't expect to find this here but a secondary search revealed it.

Some settlement layouts can result in large ships being considered to be trespassing restricted areas... while docked. So you'll have to do your business either pretty quickly, or while getting shot by the settlement defenses. AFAIK this has not been fixed yet.

Engineers and designers make mistakes in real life as well. Why should everything in a video game be perfect? Now go and park your humongous ship over there on that patch of ground outside the settlement.

If this was satire, ignore everything that follows;

This is like designing an airport, with a helipad, but when a helicopter comes in to approach the, ATC says to get out of their airspace because it's near a runway.
Or if you designed a port, with a dock for water planes, but then whenever one tried to land they got told "no, there are boats nearby".
And 'that patch of ground' is often impossible to land on in a large ship. Almost like it would be nice to have a dedicated spot for large ships to put down...like a landing pad.

No, it's more like this bridge:

It's a big bridge that in the ordinary course of events would accommodate large traffic under it. But the designers didn't accommodate a space truck THAT big.

In all seriousness, this does need to be fixed otherwise the alternative is putting warning signs on all the slightly too small pads 🤣

As a trucker i can assure you this was the fault of an Audi, always is :ROFLMAO:

GALNET - 07 JUL 3308 - LAKON SPACEWAYS LOBBIES FOR HUGE CLASS LANDING PAD

Among the space-going, the name Lakon needs little in the way of explanation or introduction. A most prominent shipbuilder, second only to the venerated Faulcon DeLacy, but with more contemporary models flying the skies, its impact on galactic society is remarkable. Apropos, as the next impact the storied shipmaker is attempting to make is as gargantuan as the very thing it is asking for -- a new landing pad class, all across the galaxy, large enough to fit the Type-10 Defender, which has had some pains with sites adhering to the current Large spec that also feature little extra leeway.

Senior Shipbuilding Engineer Farty McFlyGuy commented "Look, there's only so much we can do. There's only so small you can make the bloody things. They have to fit stuff in them. A lot of a stuff! I mean a LOT of stuff! Some of these Pilots' Federation guys have a LOT of stuff! Our pilots aren't floating out there taking in the sights, or doing crazy things like flying loop-the-loops while they shoot at literal aliens. Our pilots keep stations and bases running. Our pilots perform rescue operations. Our pilots chart the stars for months at a time. These things take stuff. I'm talking 792 tons of human waste kind of stuff! And sure, the T10 was mainly an anti-xeno design but when you do that the way we do, it takes a lot of stuff, too. That thing can fit a LOT of missiles. And BIG ones. Pointy."

When pressed about the mammoth size of the effort it would take to update all landing pads all over the galaxy, he had this to say.

"Lady, if we touch that design again, something's gonna blow up. And whatever it is will probably take the cockpit with it. Or we might find out later that it doesn't fit in the H class pads we want. No, trust me, this is the better way. It's just a patch of ground, it's easy, it's the right thing to do, and it opens the door for the future. We did this with the Type-6, we did it with the Type-7, and now we're doing it with the Type-10. Put simply, we're gonna need a bigger pad."
