Someone dropped the ball, heavily, in 1.05

If you log out of ED then back in again, the bulletin board also changes (sometimes it also depends how long between sessions), so it must be part of the game design.

However, OP, you make a good point and, IMO, bulletin boards, system traffic (etc.) should be consistent for all players, no matter what instance they appear in.

I have sent a PM to Michael Brooks pointing him in this direction. I hope we can get some form of Developer Commentary on the issues described.

EDIT: Well it would appear the Executive Producer of this game doesn't seem interested in responding. He replied that he is unaware of the issue and just suggesting it be ticketed.

I loose faith in the community interaction from Frontier sometimes. This seemed like a pretty important issue that I think a lot of us would prefer doesn't get buried in a ticket.

Just an acknowledgment that its not by design would have been nice so tickets can be submitted with the confidence that something is indeed not working as it should.

Log in and Log out and the whole USS or RES changes. lol Even in open with no other plays in the same instance.

Some things I can understand being generated on request / change between logging in / out, BB missions / USS / RES.

But trade data, supply / demand / prices should be persistent, if the prices are different but everything else is the same, then perhaps its a bug with how the pricing is calculated client side rather than it showing the raw data. We know it must be calculated client side in order to apply an individual 'bulk selling tax', so perhaps something is wrong with this causing it to manipulate the persistent data?!?

The screenshots previously posted only show the prices, what was the supply/demand like?

I have my little thing that gets prices from EDDN and when I go to a station I check and update them if needed.

Yesterday I went to Abe Works in Ovid and I saw the prices on my db were wrong and I start modifying them. Half way through this the page on ED refreshes and now I see that actually the prices from EDDN were correct so there was no need to change them and I had to change them back.

Yep, there are three threads on the funky commodity supply bug now, just in the first two pages. Something is definitely broken (or working completely non-intuitively) since 1.05.
One of my cornerstone trade commodities routinely flips from 256K supply (high) to 128K supply (med) at regular intervals that cannot possibly have anything to do with system trading from other players and NPCs. I can sit there on the Commodities screen (doing other things on a different monitor) and WATCH IT IN REALTIME goe from 128K supply to 256K supply, and then 30 minutes later it suddenly drops back to 128K supply.

It's nothing like the old (normal) behavior where you'd see the effects of other traders slowly knocking down the supply in sets of just a few thousand at most per change.

I made a thread about this commodity price fluctuation too. Very strange.

At least I'm not imagining things.

Lets hope we get an explanation soon

Couple observations... and observation conditions:
  • two people, same group, same server (as per loading screen)
  • both flying to same station(s)
  • both are Allied with the places checked

And the observations:
  • commodity prices in market are different for both observers
  • traffic reports are different for both observers
  • the observers never manage to see each other
  • bulletin board missions are completely different for both (which might be by design, however)

...will add more oddities later, if noticed.

Edit: screenshots (taken 18.1.2015, 13:11 server-time).

Edit2: system is called Chapsugaibo, for anyone curious to drive by.

Well played FD. Really next gen stuff going on in your "MMO".

It was pretty weird, especially since everything worked just peachy up to 1.04. (I am the other asp pilot that provided the market screenshot). Had to add this to the oddity list for the last few days along with some other annoyances:

- The magic disappearing player ship. Seriously, I watched CMDR Mir land, and vanish from the pad. Then when she took off, she magically rubberbanded in from the far reaches of the station, then lifted off the pad. Wish I have had the reflexes to actually record or at least screenshot it. It was quite funny.

- The ship computer claiming that I can't enter an fsd wake, even though I have a wake scanner installed in my Asp, and have used it for weeks without problems, while the other commander could do the same without any problems whatsoever

- And most importantly the fact that it tooks us two straight days to manage to get instanced together. Seriously, we did it countless times since release, and it worked flawlessly, even with 4 people. Now? Nope, you shall not be allowed to show off your Black Apollo skin.

Was a bit offputting to say the least, but didn't really stop us from enjoying the game, just annoying that we have to put off doing tech recovery missions together until I figure out what's wrong with my scanner >.>

There is a background simulation of sorts but it's being manually managed by FD so only afffevts a few specific systems, everything else seems static.

It's total rubish that prices change every ten mins or ten hours...

I've traded the same Berillium at the same station to the same destination station for over a week and the prices and profit are exactly the same now as they were a week ago, not to mention the actual supply amount never increasing or decreasing no matter how many runs I do.

Hows that for your background simulation??????????????

seems weird, could it be that our accumulated REP for that stations faction give us better prices and mission possibilities ?

that would kinda explain the difference then.

..... humm but i have been trading at stations and gathering rep with no big changes to prices.. no seems weird.
