Someone please introduce Martin Mart to Frontier

Started following this amazing artist Martin Mart on Artstation. A lot has been said within this forum about Frontier being unable to create DLCs that contain a larger number of animals, since they take such a long time to develop. This artist would be an amazing addition to this company, and could even elevate the already phenomenal work done with Planet Zoo. I particularly love his Greater Kudu Antelope, one the most beautiful species of African antelopes, and currently not found in the game. Someone get Frontier on the phone, lol.

It’s great to share interesting things and celebrate the work of artists but in my opinion it’s a bit insulting to the people who work on Planet Zoo to frame it in this way.

I’m sure that wasn’t your intention but a post like this implies they can’t do their job and need outside help/better staff.

Definitely not the intention of the thread. The complete opposite, I have always complemented the incredible team behind Planet Zoo. Was just blown away by this artist work, and thought it would be something interesting to share with the community. It is often said here that the current team can only do so much with the available time before each DLC, perfectly understandable in my opinion. So why would bringing in outside talent be offensive to them? Is this not what any other company would do when, they have an extremely successful product, but are unable to expand its distribution or volume? Not sure where the insult comes in.

PS: I think the misunderstanding might come from, my sentence saying that his work could even elevate the game. If that is the case, then what I meant, is that by having someone else that is clearly devoted to capturing animals in all their glory and translating them into virtual models, Frontier would be adding an asset to their devs roster. And the more quality content this game receives, animals, foliage, building props etc, the more it grows in caliber. That was my meaning, not that one is superior over the other and so on, in case that was the interpretation, as an artist myself, I would never suggest such, because it is completely against my believes. All art is beautiful in my opinion.

Wow, these Animals look absolutely great

How long does he need to create a Animal?

Wished I could tell you, but did not find any info on it. I would assume that quite some time, as he did state in his profile that the animals have quite a varied set of animations. I would imagine since Frontier definitely has set the standard for the quality of their animal models, that even the fastest artist out there might be bound to similar time constraints. Will ask him, maybe he answers.

Wow, those are really beautiful renderings. I think the Greater Kudu is my favorite too. And I too appreciate all the great work Frontier has done and continues to do with Planet Zoo.

And I also don't think Frontier themselves have ever said they can only release 4 animals per DLC because it takes them so long to develop. I think it's more related to their release strategy and how they plan to deliver content to us. I could be wrong, but I just don't remember reading anything directly from Frontier on that topic.

Yeah the Kudu is just amazing. I do not believe they have said anything in regards to that topic, most of it is assumptions by other players within the forum, based on their last three DLCs. I'm sure that if they truly wanted it, they could devote a greater amount of human resources to the game and give us the highly requested larger DLCs, but as you said it seems to be tied to their release strategy. The interesting thing here, is that a release strategy implies that a more active DLC schedule has ramifications on the available content. What I would like to see, is the same release schedule (ideally even more DLCs, but that would be unrealistic and unfair to ask of them) a bigger volume of content, not necessarily a massive increment, but something substantial, at an increased price.

yeah, I agree Danny_zoo. Even if they just went from 4 animals per DLC to 6, that would be great. But we are getting off topic from your original post. :)

Yeah, going off topic usually happens, I try to follow the conversation to where it leads. I like that number 6, it does not sound like an unrealistic goal. I can only imagine had we had 6 slots in S.A and Australia DLC, what we might have gotten.

Thank you Chante for all the amazing work your team does. As you mentioned, they are beautiful, just as all the amazing content Frontier has provided in Planet Zoo, perfect fit.
