Horizons Someone really wants me dead, what do I do?

Ok I had spent a few hours in my favourite Res and then went back about my business of running missions. I am in a system heading for my contact point when I get interdicted. So I do what I always do, give in to it and turn to face the attacker, always win, hey they are not human ;) Anyway this one took my shields out in his first pass and a few % of the hull. What the hell is going on I think, but as his shields are down I turn to face him again thinking it must have been luck. Second pass and we are both then below 30% hull but now his shields are back up, so that's it, I am out of that one, boost away and back into cruise. He interdicted me 3 more times but of course each time I just boost away and eventually got to the planet landing. Could not land due to my sensors being knocked out. However thanks to MickyG1982 here on the forums, he told me about rebooting and so that worked, I landed, got all fixed up and went back to my home base.

On my way now in my home system, I got interdicted again and I think that's funny, I am not on a mission and I have no goods on board, yes its the same guy and I get told I am his mission. so we do one pass again and my shields are down and damage to the hull, so this time I am not staying for the second pass I am out of here, but he did land a few more shots on me as I was running. I got back to my home station with 7% hull and the guy turns up again at the station and starts firing again. Now I do not know if he was killed by the station and the security, or if he zoomed away when they opened fire, but I got back in the station and repaired (big repair cost nearly everything was damaged).

So what is going on? Clearly I have upset some people, but I can't go about my business being jumped like that at every turn. All I can think is to zoom to another station where I have an A rated FAS and go out into space and see if he shows up again. But the FAS is not how I make my credits, I make them mostly in the Asp Explorer. I also don't fancy picking up the insurance if I lose in the FAS and if I do, will that be the end of it? If Its just a case of being killed by them I will buy a sidewinder and let it happen.

If you've been farming at a RES and become "Unpopular" with a faction, they will send hit men out after you. I've had a few after me and usually after taking them out I'm no longer bothered. Also note your reputation will eventually go back up over time just like it goes down after becoming allied but at a very slow rate. The alternative is to determine what faction you're aggravating/hostile to and run a few missions for them. And move to a different RES and focus on another faction. Rule of thumb is don't defecate where you eat!

It's rare if you have no cargo. However yes it never ends. I've found that sometimes there are pesky ones that have to be dealt with. I typically get interdicted 2x by the same NPC and then I'm left alone. Good luck. o7

I think if you accept and fail to complete a mission that's sent to your coms panel, you can have assassins sent against you.
They are relentless unless you kill them. But sometimes just jumping out and back into the system will make them go away so u can complete your task.

Reasons for this to happen :

- Fail too many Missions for a Faction (i.e. undermining)

- be Hostile with a Faction and spend a prolonged time inside a System (>90-120 Minutes, which triggers the "Player loitering in System - Factions can trigger Mission offers")
-> this can trigger the Hostile Faction to place a Bounty on your Head w/ notification
-> Anarchy Factions i.e. Hostile due to repeated Bounty Hunting can send Hitman-Archetype NPCs as well, like any other Faction

How to solve :
- Player needs to take down the Hunter-Archetype NPC (having that NPC killed by any other event doesn't count and will make it respawn indefinitely, causing the well-known "Zombie"-effect)
- Caution : NPC Archetype won't be Wanted in all jurdisdictions, hence after making Contact can be found clean. Need to wait until it opens fire and hits first (now Wanted) before engaging

Advanced way to deal with it, if Player is i.e. not good at combat or doesn't fly/own appropriate Ship to deal with it :
- in SuperCruise, wait for Hunter NPC to show up (may or may not work to Interdict, POE (Presence of Enemy) is all that needs to be checked)
-> search for and enter any "Convoy Dispersal Pattern - Threat 3/4" USS in a non-Anarchy Space

Any System Defense Force NPCs found there will act to any illegal aggression immediately :D
Hunter NPC is likely to spawn within 15-20sec, but then illegally attacking Player here will mean Player instantly has an entire Convoy of potent Ships assisting. Just ensure the Player takes the final shots, so the kill counts.

Or just buy a sidewinder and let him kill you. Seems like the quickest, easiest and least expensive solution.
