Elite / Frontier Something about the Feel... Warning largish images

I wouldn't want the superfluous eyecandy to be integrated with detail settings. Full detail without superfluous eyecandy should be possible.

BTW, regarding newtonian physics - does anyone else enjoy speeding almost 20k km*h^-1 as close to the surface as possible (about 100m, usually) and dodging the terrain in FFE?

We wouldn't have this kind of stuff if Frontier used arcadey flight mechanics.

Hooligan!

But yes this is good fun, especially when pursued by hordes of lesser pilots who don't seem so able to fly low to the ground. You can see me looking in my rear view and chuckling as they throw themselves at the planet.

I always do that when on photgraphic and bombing missions. great fun till you smack into a mountain!

Yeah love doing that - that's why I'm quite keen on there being some atmosphere physics implimented - get yourself a little air flyer and do some canyon flying!

This usually happens when you look in your rear view too much. :D

Who me?? rear view?

it is great fun though. I always seem to land on the opposite side of the planet so it takes a while to get to my target.

It'd be cool to finally feel the difference between some highly aerodynamic fighter (like Falcon or Osprey) and brick-with-powerful-thrusters like Asp or Cobra (though those two should still get some lift from their flat shapes).

In FE2 and FFE all ships handle as if they belonged to the latter category.
