Something changed with Corrosion/Thargoid hearts?

I just ate a 56 million Cutter rebuy because I scooped a Thargoid Heart into my corrosion resistant cargo rack.
I lost 30% hull in less then 10 seconds and died faster than my decon limpet could repair the corrosion :O

Is that new? Dun I goofed?

Had the corrosion cloud dissipated before you picked it up? Last one I picked up was a few days ago.
