Something going on over by Col 70?

For a laugh, I've decided to await the Thargoid invasion at the very edge of the COL 70 permit locked area (just a hunch). I was milling about in my SRV on a landable planet with rings, humming the Halo theme (you just have to don't you), when a crashed ship pinged my radar, and when I arrived at the spot, there was a SYSTEM DEFENSE FORCE ship patrolling the sky above!!?? Whaaaat?

Yeah. After spending too much time out there, you start seeing some weird ship.

I've seen System Defense Force vipers over planets in systems that are impossible to reach in such a ship, even with engineering and injections.
