So way back in the first Elite, Jamison is the commander you play, however I have always wondered if that name was an homage or reference to the even older pen/paper RPG game Traveller, where in the original books you see an example of a starting character called Alexander Lascelles Jamison, who you read on about as a sort of tutorial about the game. Anyone else ever make this perhaps erroneous connection as well or know if it was an inspiration?
