something that I was wondering about the flak launcher's mechanics

was testing the flak guns on my wingmate to see how they worked, was wondering why they hell they are blowing up in my face when we were attempting to fight off thargons in our first attempt vs a cyclops(did not go too well :p). then I figured out that they are a hold then release to detonate kind, and that got me thinking:

why isn't it a proper proxy fuse where it does the detonation automatically? I mean WW2 has those already being used, and it is even shows in it's own mechanics(the beeping becomes faster as it nears the target, indicating some form of proxy detection, but for some reason it requires the player to manually detonate it) aiming at the thargons with a fixed weapon only is already hard enough, and when I hear "flak" I think of this:

suggestions: increase ROF to 1/s but halve the damage, turret version gets proper turret tracking(but with a bit slower ROF of 0.7/s) and make its armor piercing very low(unless thargons have some sort of armor, not mentioned in the wiki) and change the mechanics that when it gets within a certain range of the target it goes off, like a proper prox fuse

the other option is to add it as a engineering upgrade: proximity fuse experimental with the other upgrades as standard(overcharged, efficient, high cap, etc.)

In my opinion though, trying to hit something as agile as thargons that is also not technically a "single" entity is already hard enough with the slow shells, not to mention the giant angry space flower you have just ticked off and is now after your booty, and having to take attention away from it

So we have to run away from the swarm after every heartbeat and then shoot it moving backwards.
Well, you don't have to ... it just makes life easier.

You get used to it and start being able to predict swarm motion after some practice.
