People who say "video games are a waste of time."

It's infuriating. Those same people watch movies or TV everyday. Or read books, everyday. With respect, there is no difference between watching a film, reading a book, or playing a game. The two former see you take in a story. The latter usually means the same.

I don't see the difference between a book or a game.

If you've explained this to whomever, there's nothing else to do. They've made up their minds and most likely they will not change. Let it go ...

Enjoy gaming for what it is ....

Waste of Time = stuff you don't remember.
Like working. Learning Trigonometry.
That time disappears from our life.

Well Spent Time = stuff you remember while wasting time
Like running with your dog. Flying your Spaceship.
That time makes up the life we remember.

Zen Masters try to make all time spent into time to remember by being present for all of it. I can't do that. Guess that's why they're Masters and I'm not.

Hahahah... I can feel my dad's hatred of games down to the bone whenever he whines about me "playing computers". HE, of course, is perfectly happy to sit in front of the TV and channel surf because there is "nothing on" and there are "too many ads".

Hhhmmm... I appear to be enjoying my time on my games. Can't say the same for his TV. I've tried to introduce him to Netflix, but he just hates anything technology related, sadly..

For the record, I'm not a teen playing ED instead of homework, living at home, I run a reasonably successful business and my first computer game at home was "pong" on one of those cartridge based home entertainment systems from the early 80's.

Also, if I am reading on a tab, it's not considered the same as reading from a book, despite being, you know, the same book...

The logic does hurt my head...

IMHO, do you enjoy it? If yes, than that is enough for it not to be a waste of time. Whether it's a book, TV show, game, or simply twiddling your thumbs, thinking about possible solutions to all of your country's problems and then nitpicking them to death, if you enjoy it than it is not a waste.
