Something weird about exploration I've noticed (and questions)...

1. Sometimes, very rarely, when I've targetted the stellar body (star, planet, moon etc) and letting it scan, it'll "complete" and say detailed scans have been taken... but the body remains "Unexplored" and the scanner continues to spin and scan again. Usually it will truly complete on the 2nd try.

2. How come you can scan something that is obstructed by something else, but you can't charge FSD when your destination is obstructed? Example, scanning a planet that is directly behind the star is fine....

3. The "First discovered by....." tag is only visible for bodies not discovered by you right? So how come we don't see the same thing for stuff we discover? Yes, I mean after we've returned to civilization and sold the data.

4. Related to (3), when is this tag applicable? As soon as you've pinged the system (foghorn) or when you've completed scans?

1. That's a backend database bug, I think.

2. Because various kinds of waves your sensors emit can go through solid bodies, but if you engage the FSD you need to physically move your ship through.

3. The stuff you discover will get a tag if you are the first person to turn the data in at a station. If you visit the same system again afterwards, it will have your tag.

4. When you completed a detailed scan.

Okaay I'll buy that :)

Whaaaa?? Heck no, I'm not gonna jump 30,000 LY just to go back there to have a look :D I thought I could just open up the map, search for that system name and look at the system map to see the tag.... all in the comfort of civilized space...

(1) I get this VERY occasionally too. More frequently, I get a thing where it says no bodies have been found then a few seconds later tells me a load of bodies have been found (I think it mainly happens in very large systems). I'm assuming it takes a while for the data to arrive.
(2) This is a bug I quite like!
(3) Probably because of...
(4), it's only when you sell the data.

1. Could be. Certainly some kind of bug - though I don't believe it is network as some have stated (when there are network issues, it just hangs longer before it displays the results - which is different to rescanning).
2. Hmm... I don't buy that, I think it's a bug (though a very minor one :) ). If I'm pointing at the main system sun having just scanned it and scooped, and there is another body directly behind it, I shouldn't be able to scan that other body with the sun in the way. I don't believe for a second that any waves would be getting through. :p

1 is a bug that has been there on and off. Have got it a few times recently. Similarly, you get a bug when the first blow of the horn gives an incomplete scan, and you have to do it again (yes, with the advanced scanner).
2. Because FD said so. Lots of things have no real common sense in this game.
3. I see those tags fine (well, other than those systems where the tag went AWOL due to a bug. That may, or may not, have been fixed). And, no, you don't need to visit again to see the tags, just target the system from the map, and go to the system view.
4. You must first complete a detailed scan and then sell the data.
