I haven't been following it all, but it sounds like the Arabian peninsula is going insane right now.

My friend from Lebanon gave me his take on this, and it is thus:

Many of the princes and wealthy-Elite of the Middle East threw millions or possibly billions of dollars at erasing Syria from the map so that Qatar could run a pipeline through the territory and almost directly to Europe, bypassing Russia and sidelining Iran. To that end, they supported a bunch of ISIS-affiliated nut jobs who then completely failed to eliminate the government of Syria. The princes and other ultra-wealthies are out billions with naught to show for it. The Saudi king wants heads. The PM of Lebanon (who holds Saudi citizenship for reasons I don’t know) seems to be one of those wealthy heads and was forced to resign, possibly at gunpoint, from within Saudi Arabia. My friend thinks it all could have been some sort of coup attempt, but whatever comes out of it, this is about the money. If it had succeeded, Qatar would not be the current ME punching bag and the PM of Lebanon would likely be counting his extra millions.

Wow, fascinating! Thanks!

So... I wonder how little impact ISIS would have had on the region had this little plot never happened.

there was a attempt by a lone gunman not too long ago.. to possibly assasinate the Prince Mohammad Bin Salman, who is the next inline for the throne...
also there is corruption within the government of Saudi-Arabia.. which ties certain Government officials and a number of other princes to supporting terrorism.. and possibly colluding with other middle-eastern states...also the Deepstate in America
The tie-in with President Donald Trump's visit was there was going to be a backlash when the Prince MBS was going to initiate operation "Drain The Swamp" hence the reason why President Trump made the Arms Sales... so the Saudi's have a oppurtunity to defend themselves in anticipation of reprisals from other middle-eastern tribes who are invested in shaping the future.

Seems Israel has come to support Saudi-Arabia, in the troubles that are brewing in the Middle-east

This plan fails to consider
- the geopolitically important Russian naval base on Syria's East coast in Tartus.
- the use of Hezbollah in Syria by Iran as a proxy paramilitary occupation force.

Failure was predictable from our point of view ( probably with hindsight) but it might not seem so to a religiously inclined, greedy and badly informed young ruler.
It sure looks like a plausible story to me.

What is going on in Saudi is an attempt by one branch of the royal family to consolidate power in the hands of the crown prince. Whether this succeeds or not remains to be seen. Expect more upheavals and uncertainty in the near future.
