Sometimes I'm just an idiot.

Was finishing up the black markets for the dweller. Got all five and headed back home to get my Krait mk2. Got it out of storage from the shipyard and set a course for the dweller. After a couple of jumps which were brown dwarfs I pointed to the next star and hit the fsd. Got a warning for not enough fuel. Hmm... noticed that next star was only 11 Lys away. Must have forgotten to fuel up after returning home last time i flew her. Looked at gal map and found a nearby red dwarf. Plotted a course, hit the fsd and crossed my fingers. Fsd engaged. Sweet! I'm safe. Got there and headed close to the star. Hmm... why is my fuel scoop not engaging. Flew closer, got dangerously close to exclusion zone. Still nothing. Pulled up and went to check modules to make sure it was active. That's when I saw it,. I wasn't in my mk2. I was in my starting sidewinder. So where is that self destruct button anyway.

My favourite party trick (meaning I've done it more times than I am willing to admit) is forgetting to set up power priorities in a new ship/modified ship/freshly engineered ship/…
So my first combat trial very often consists of some confusion, swearing, running and awkward waiting around while my ship's systems are restarting and recharging.

We all have our issues.

A "friend" of mine has a bad habit of not setting fire groups for newly purchased hardpoints DESPITE the station explicity warning him to setup the firegroups.

I did exactly that with a Cutter mission running for Fed rank recently, interdicted by an Annie, submitted to show it the error of its ways, deployed hardpoints, ship shut down all the way to the rebuy screen....

Never mind OP, it happens to all of us. In the struggle to maintain the galaxy's clever-stupid balance, it takes brave cmdrs like us to pitch in on the side of stupid. 🥴

Well I seem to contributing significantly to the stupid side of the balance today. I didn't mention that when doing the smuggling missions I was so focused on being ready to go into silent running if I got scanned, that I forgot to request docking permissions. What followed in my panic was hitting the side of the station, then hitting forward thrusters instead of reverse. Hearing the scan warning, switching to external camera instead of silent run. Finally getting into silent run, remembering what reverse thrusters were for. Then boosting away as fast as I could. I was given anonymous access and had to pay a 200 credit fine.

That's one of the reasons why I've made a habit of popping hardpoints before I get into a fight. God knows updates and bugs and simply forgetting after changing outfitting have reset my power priorities more than once and it's better to find out just after undocking than after being interdicted.

You're way too organized and responsible for this thread. Go away.
